i was honestly super worried i wasn't going to enjoy meleeniacs because im really not big on pvp/competitive games, but something about it is so goddamn fun. i got to play the pre-alpha with some buddies today and we played for most of the open hours.

the character designs and dialogue are so cool and im hella interested in learning more abt em all. all the weapons were pretty great to use minus a couple i personally didn't like the feel of (candy club, the meat club thing, swordception, & probably a couple others i can't remember rn).

the maps were honestly really well designed for the most part! really only had a couple i had some minor gripes with (haybales is too flat and open with too little opportunities to knock people off when everyone keeps gathering in the center, horrible holes while having my favorite name and generally being pretty great honestly with how people end up distributing on it is a little annoying to traverse occasionally bc it's so lumpy, and highrise was just way too big imo).

the modes themselves were pretty fun and all seemed to mesh well with whatever map they ended up paired with, though we did get a few modes paired with certain maps more often than not, looking at you wrench wranglers and bacon (which was honestly super fun for that map). i think i honestly like standard most from what i played today, but i wanted to like crown more, but folks kept playing it like it was standard and beating me up when i was nowhere near the crown and it was kinda ticking me off. hoping maybe in the full release they make it so the mode is a bit more obvious throughout the match instead of just highlighting it in the round change screen and showing the objective for a couple seconds at the start of a match, perhaps with a graphic or an objective popup/symbol that stays on the side of the screen or smth.

overall an insanely fun game, with only a few minor gripes and one bug i had where i kept spawning in the floor on ruinsofoldhomeworld. i seriously cannot wait for the full release of this game and the future updates we'll get. i hope we get another test day before release again honestly just so i can play more without having to wait but i can be patient if i must be lol

people associating physical affection with romance only pisses me offff bc im thinking abt my friend n i's characters and they are NOT ROMANTIC WITH EACHOTHER!!!! but they're insanely physically affectionate and i KNOWWW people would be shipping them despite both our guys literally both having several other romantic options.... gawwwwh
