If there’s one week people in NYC hate and avoid, it’s #UNGA week. Roads get closed, traffic remains at standstill for long periods of time and it’s pretty much crazy all across the city with police officers active on every street and corner guiding traffic. But if you were in here specifically for the UN General Assembly and its side events then the feeling is pretty much the opposite. You have the opportunity to mingle and discuss causes close to your heart, get know likeminded people from around the world, and just feel awesome really. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My second stop during UNGA week was at the UN Headquarters where I was attending the UN #SolutionsSummit. I had the honor of being part of the selection committee who chose the 10 innovators presenting their work and solutions to the challenges we face in today’s world. I was left in awe with every single one of them and was so happy to exchange ideas on how they can scale their aspirations to create a more lasting footprint. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Solutions Summit for this year highlighted projects that advance the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each session featured 3 or 4 ‘lightning talks’ of selected SDG solutions, followed by conversations on how to scale them for greater impact. You can find out more on the solutions by visiting www.solutions-summit.org. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A big thank you to the United Nations, UN Foundation, shift7, and the Global Innovation Exchange and especially to Sarah Alzner ,the co-founder of the UN #SolutionsSummit for the invitation. This was literally a breath of fresh air! #UNGAhighlights #SDGLive (at United Nations Headquarters) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bob2Px3FDug/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1dvgfznv4ge68
