Man’s body found after 40 year thanks to a tree.
In 2011, a researcher stumbled upon a cave that had a tree growing out of its side. This stroked his curiosity as he started the dig around and under the tree. To his horror, he found a corpse underneath the tree. He called the police and they found two other corpses next to it.
The corpse belonged to Ahmet Hergune. Hergune had become between a conflict of the Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots in 1974. Together with two other men, Hergune was taken to a cave, where the Greek threw Dynamite after them. The blast killed them, but also made a hole in the side of the cave.
Right before Ahmet died, he ate a fig. Thanks to the fig seeds in his stomach and the light that crept through the hole, the tree could grow. And so his body was found after 40 years of missing.
