Took a break to raise my kids but I had to show them that you should always try to finish what you started
happy independence day bby (i forget the name of the white guy that took this pic, but don’t come back)
In all seriousness, I LOVE Somali people. Most of you are so funny and creative. You also back each other up no matter what; us Desi people bash on our own kind. I have nothing but respect for all of you. <3
my poems.
I got these poems I wrote back in grade 12.
I mean they ARE mine so its not plagiarism if I post them here right. School's got me paranoid with this crap.
It was for a Creative writing class I took. I loved the poetry portion.
thanks Mr.Reid. I hated Emery but your class made it fun
I went back to it and was reading it...some of it really applies to me and my life right now.
i kinda put my heart into it. enjoy reading about my life <3

10. Sonnet- My Story
To be fair I will not alter a dang thing. I will post it as I wrote it a couple years back.
For today....i'll start with the one I think goes with the rant about nations and adversities.
- i had to do this assignment.....so I was given a topic to write about and an example...from there it was basically free rein. Each poem goes with a background picture that I think fitted at the time....i'll post those too.
Join me on my journey to rediscover a lost part of me. My Identity
Its called Where I am from.
I am from Dirac dresses and Macawis culture
From poetry, songs and elders
I am from semi-dessert lands; where I taste
Tender sweetness of rain on cool breezy afternoons
I am from Mir and Frankincense; where its
Perfume resides in every room
I am from family gatherings and birthmarks on my tongue
From Gure and Issa, From Mahad and Xirsi
I am from “Family first’ and ‘Responsibility is key’
I am from The House of Allah (SWT)
From the teachings of Muhammad (PBUH) and The Holy Quran
From teachings of keeping internal peace and compassion
I am from “Don’t question your elders” and “Heaven lies at your mother’s feet”
I am from Africa
Where radical tribalists reside
From malawax and suqaar
Or banana and rice
I am from my parent’s closet; where memories
I forgotten are forever captured
I am from under my bed; where yearbooks, souvenirs
Are keepsakes of my childhood hopes
And dreams
i'm wondering when to post the other one? why not now?!
so amped
