No I get what your saying. It's mostly a personal thing. For me, and I'm sorry if this makes anyone upset, I just absolutely hate Kikyo. It's nothing to do with ships but just Kikyo never tries to make amends with Inuyasha, she never asks how he feels or tries to apologize it's always somehow his fault. Not to mention (which I know has been) but her wish was totally selfish trying to change Inuyasha's very being just to suit her needs.
And I also hated how Kikyo tried to convince Inuyasha that he had to die or that he owed her for what were her mistakes. And in regards to Kikyo and Kagome I know they share a soul but it’s been made a point in the series that they’re separate people. I do acknowledge that Kikyo did care about others helping villages and saving Kohaku (the only thing I personally liked about her) but her moral grayness just infuriated me because she also got a lot of people hurt and even killed which I hated.
I don’t want to annoyingly fill up your ask box but it really does come down to preference. I’m not above excusing Kagome’s less than proud moments like her overuse of the beads or stringing Koga along rather than tell him to back off. But her overall accepting nature and kindness to Inuyasha makes her more interesting to me. I do enjoy moral gray characters but Kikyo’s methods just urgh I don’t know. But again that’s just me, there’s other behaviors she does but I won’t leave a laundry list.
no, yeah. it’s always a matter of personal preferences
kagome, for me, is just the least interesting character in the series. she’s so ordinary compared to the surroundings she’s placed in. and the contrast is nice–don’t get me wrong–and i can appreciate that on an artistic level to a degree but it just doesn’t do it for me
and like it makes sense she would be, so i can’t get mad at that. she’s from a “modern” world, where the things that infest the feudal era either have ceased to exist or are lying dormant. it’s to be expected
her character is meant to be one that is easy to identify with, but it’s just…. lacking imo
kikyo catches my attention because she’s not only relatable in a way kagome isn’t, but because she appears more human. her flaws aren’t used for comedic affect but are treated as legit flaws
in regards to my soul comment though, yes. the entire series is based around how they aren’t the same person in personality. but they share a soul so there are extreme similarities in who they are at their core
kagome is not kikyo, but kikyo is kagome (a fraction of her anyway)
and, lol, there’s no doubt kikyo is a Straight-Up Bitch™️ but that’s why i grew to like her as i got older. because that’s only a fraction of who she is. she’s also an older teen/young adult who had a lot pushed on her from childhood and was expected to keep up certain appearances and actions
kikyo, though selfish in ways kagome never will, when resurrected was finally able to be the woman she had always wanted to be: free. she started being more selfish. more unapologetic. more about herself and her wants while not completely losing her morals or values. she was allowed to finally live the way she wanted with no one particularly expecting anything from her
which is HIGHLY more relatable than a girl who grew up in a loving home and had things handed to her until she was pulled down a well. kagome grows stronger and braver throughout the series. she has development, but she doesn’t go through the same kind of shift that makes kikyo so enthralling to me
AND TO END THIS ONE A GOOD NOTE: MAN!!! I COULD WRITE A FRICKING ESSAY ON HOW FUCKING RACIST KIKYO’S WISH WAS. HOW UNFAIR AND GROSS AND SELFISH IT ACTUALLY WAS DESPITE THE GOOD INTENTIONS SHE HAD BEHIND IT. BOY OH BOY OH BOY
I've spent years thinking I was doing things wrong, but it does turn out I was hanging out with people you didn't give a shit about me... Insane because I gaslite myself for almost 7 years thinking something was wrong with me, but those people just didn't really like me huh-
Had a picnic with my sister, my older brother and his wife yesterday (and their kids) and I'd brought pasta and snacks, including veggie sticks I knew at least 2 of them would eat.
We were talking about how the grown ups got what they didn't want and I went "I don't think anyone really paid attention to what we wanted to eat as kids." My siblings went "yeah..." and my SIL was like "That's so sad!"
Like, I guess? I never really thought about it as a sad story, I thought it was funny. Like the comparison of how much I want our kids (my niblings) to be happy and healthy to our parents just trying to be healthy or w/e
Sorry I willingly and enthusiastically spent money on an otome game do u still love me
yes <3
The Religious and powerful call us Abomination, but for those that know, or dare to look closely, we are, in fact, Chaos.
