It felt like closing those gates again, and it was so damn hard to pry them open in the first place. Fine. If Jane wanted it this way she could have it this way, she was more comfortable like this anyhow, more happy.

That was a lie.

She knew this because it didn’t stop the god awful hurt returning and twisting her stomach, like she shouldn’t expect it by now. She is stupid, she is selfish, and she is stubborn as a mule but most of all she is angry, angry at Jane for letting it get this far but she is more angry at herself for even letting it happen in the first place.
