Simaddict99 at TSR has a mission-style dresser that pulls it's textures from the coffee table, I believe

Hmmmm....That's almost enough to make me go off to T$R. Almost, but not quite. :) There's one that matches the Mission set that nixedsims converted from, believe it or not, TSM. It's the style I prefer, a low 2x1 one. I'm not an armoire fan. She didn't repository it, though. But now that I'm reminded of it, I ought to go recolor that one... I don't use dressers all that often, usually preferring closets in my bedrooms without a separate dresser cluttering things up, but when I do want one...

Yeah, you weirdo southerners. ;) No, seriously, I get "Ma'am"ed by the cowboys around here all the time, which is fine. Not sure I want to be "ma'am"ed by my daughter's girlfriend, though. That's just kinda weird. But at least she's not from a southern Marine Corps family because then I'd never break her of the habit. She's bounced all over the place, being a military brat, but her parents are from New Jersey, so I'll work on her.

Arline is one of the prettier Sims I've had, yes. Can't take credit for it, though. Her father is pretty, but he was generated by CAS; I just use the first Sim of the gender I want that CAS spits out, so... And then I don't control who they want to breed with, either. Their wants and ACR dictates that, pretty much. Sometimes the combinations can be pretty horrific. *laugh* But sometimes, I get a pretty one by happenstance, too. Arline's one of those.

Yeah, I thought so. Especially since it's probably going to be used a lot, since these pixels have to scrounge up or grow their own food. I might use Rebecah's animals in this neighborhood, too, later on, when I add larger lots. Right now, they're all small lots, and there's just no room for livestock.

Yeah, I think elder-appropriate hairstyles are definitely lacking. I've got plenty of styles for younger adults and such, but many of them just look silly on elders, especially the ones I have for males. Not to mention I'd like some salt-and-pepper colors for younger elders, especially for my age-modded neighborhoods where Sims go elder relatively young and can be elders for a long, long time. I'd like to give them, in particular, a sort of aging gradient. It doesn't bother me so much in non-age-modded neighborhoods, but still...

Yeah, I'm really grateful to the creators out there, like CatofEvilGenius, who do nice, not-frumpy, but not I'm-trying-to-look-25 clothing for elders. Thanks to them, my elders don't want for clothing. Hair seems to be really lacking, though. I'm ALMOST tempted to try to do some salt-and-pepper hair recolors, but my track record for successful hair recoloring is...Well, not good. *laugh*

How 'bout a reply to a reply to a reply? :) Ah, my rules. Basically, I long ago settled on playing BACC-style, as I have no interest in playing pre-made neighborhoods. So I grabbed various sets of BACC rules that were out there at the time, picked and chose what I liked from them, made up some of my own, and that became my set of rules, which I've never actually written down in their entirety. They're just in my head. The original basic set that I cobbled together is here, with some tweaks that I often use (though I'm not using them for Needham Hills) here. I don't follow all those rules all the time, though; it depends on the neighborhood and how "free" I want to be. Mostly, the rules I use are meant to either make things harder or to enforce randomness on me, so that I don't get into a rut and do the same thing every time and/or make everyone super-successful and therefore, eventually, super-boring.

As for pics...Well, you don't want to use the in-game camera, because it sucks. I use a screen-capturing program. The one I use is ScreenHunter, which has a free version, which is what I use. There are others out there that are free or have free versions and that all basically do the same thing -- Gadwin Printscreen, Fraps -- and are all equally easy to use. I play the game in windowed mode and set the screen capturing program to take a picture of only the active window. It has a hot key, in my case F6, so when I want to take a pic, I switch the game to cameraman mode (The Tab key), maneuver around to get the pic I want, hit F6, and the pic is taken of the whole game window, which gets put into a folder on my desktop that I made and told the screen capturing program to use. I then edit the pics in Photoshop, but really all I do is crop them and occasionally adjust brightness/contrast if the pic is really dark for some reason. I don't generally do any fancy editing like a lot of people do. So, I could just as easily edit them in Paint or something, but Photoshop is just what I'm used to using.

So, it's really pretty easy. Take the pics, crop 'em down in Photoshop (or whatever), dump them onto Tumblr. Since I play the game in windowed mode and I have a huge monitor and lots of RAM, I can keep everything open at the same time, which makes posting-while-playing, when I do that, pretty easy. And it's really quite fun.

Staples story- a lifetime ago I needed thyroid surgery. Doc told me it would be a small incision with a few stitches. It ended up being a 4 inch incision closed with staples. I about fell over when I saw my neck.

Oh, man! Well, at least I knew going into the procedure that I was going to be filleted like a trout, with an 8" incision. :p But, that was better than the other option, which was...um, dying.  But staples in the neck don't sound fun at all. Less fun than staples in the belly, I think.

Yeah, the kids in this family are kinda pretty so far. I kind of lucked out that CAS made Patrick pretty. I think his eyes aren't geneticized, though, which is why both kids got them. I have some that aren't geneticized because they came with Sims I downloaded. I need to try to track them down and fix that because I don't like it when custom eyes are ALWAYS inherited. But, no hope for it now. We'll just see what Hennessey #3 gets. :) I'm sure he/she will get the eyes, but we'll see if he/she gets The Cheeks. ;)

Yay for the no staples! Thank goodness I've never had them. After 5 surgeries I'm sure my luck is running out on that. Btw, I love the electrocuted look. Soooooooo my favorite!

Yeah, staples are a pain in the butt. And I had them in for a while. There was the first surgery, and then they had to go back in and do a lavage to help clean out infection. :p So, between the two "sets," they were in there for a while, and they kind of hurt coming out. And there were a lot of them because the incision's about 8" long plus a little "dogleg" bit. But I'm glad they're gone. And I HOPE that's the last surgery I ever have. Or at least the last one I have a for a long, long time. :p

Jake's stick-fetching powerz remind me of the Lab I grew up with. Her philosophy was "the bigger the tree, the better." ;)

Yeah, he reminds me of when Marta, my big Saint Mastiff (English Mastiff/St. Bernard mix) was a tiny puppy. She was all tiny body, huge paws, and huge head, and could barely walk without stumbling, between the size of her paws and the weight of her head. But still she'd find the biggest stick that she could and try to drag it around if not actually carry it. She'd pull around things that were much bigger and heavier than she was and build stick piles. I don't know what she thought she was doing. And she still does it. She's 7 years old now, but still a puppy in her brain. We've got Marta's stick piles all over the place. But, her stick-gathering makes it easier to do brush clean-ups to mitigate wildfire hazard, so I guess I shouldn't complain. :)

Thanks, I'm glad that you enjoyed it! :D It was a fun little mini-concert. We're signed up to do another on Nov. 21, so maybe I'll have something else then. Not sure what we're going to play yet, though. We need to figure it out before the end of the month, when flyers will be printed up for November's recitals.

Smetana's awesome. In a way, although I'm a Dvorak fangirl, I'm sort of bummed that Smetana's was outshone in the West by Dvorak, so those of us outside of his corner of the world aren't as aware of his music as, IMO, we ought to be. His Ma Vlast is lovely, as are some of his piano works. And the first string quartet, too.

All the babies are cute. It's when they become toddlers that disaster strikes. :) But I think she'll ultimately grow up OK-looking, at least. Not that I'm all about pretty because I'm really not. I like interesting-looking but not extreme-looking, I guess. She will fill the bill, I think.

Possibly. I make it a policy not to change the appearance of toddlers in my game, mostly because they're not toddlers long enough for me to really care what they look like for those 4 days. And I don't have anything against trans people at all, but I don't play them in my game because it would be far more work than I want to put into something that I'm not personally invested in. By that I mean that I'm not trans myself and have absolutely no idea what it's like to be trans and because of that I could never do the concept justice even if I tried. I would likely just do something stupidly stereotypical and probably offensive to those who actually are trans. So I'm afraid my game is and will remain hopelessly gender-binary. And Libbie grew up a little more feminine-looking and into a girly outfit, so...there we are. We'll see what she becomes when she's a teen.

Well, thank you, dear! The main neighborhood is still pretty barren because I haven't been arsed to decorate it, but the convent is pretty. It's making me wish I'd done it properly and made it an attachable-to-other-neighborhoods subhood...but I didn't. I've got copies of all the lots in my lot bin, but I'd still have to do all the neighborhood decorating if I wanted to recreate it for another neighborhood. UGH!

I'm curious about the landfill comment - is there not a recycling scheme where you're at?

There is, but I'm frankly a bit of a recycling skeptic, believing that it uses more energy than it saves. Especially in the case of my town, given that there is no actual center in town (because it's teeeeeeeeny!), so the recycling has to be trucked to the nearest facility, which is a couple of hours away. I put aluminum cans and plastic in to be recycled, but that's about it, and we don't buy a lot of that stuff. We're more of a conserving/reusing household. The house is almost completely solar-powered except for the bits of it that still run on (UGH!) propane, and we're working on that. (We don't generate enough to heat the house in the winter...yet. Need MOAR PANELS and maybe a couple of little wind turbines and then buy a different furnace, and then we can go off-grid entirely.) We compost anything that can be composted and we try not to buy stuff that is not compostable or that comes in packaging that can't be composted or that can't be reused. I hoard glass jars/bottles like you wouldn't believe. I use them for lots of things, from storing pantry dry goods to rustic flower vases. Including breaking them into bits (Awesome stress relief), tumbling the pieces, and using them in the xeriscaping outside for a nice sparkle effect. *laugh* I also get crafty with them. I made a pretty cool ceiling light fixture out of empty wine bottles. *laugh* Glossy-paper magazines don't compost well, however, so I avoid buying/subscribing to them. But now I'll be able to! Playgirl subscription, here I come! (Kidding! :) )
