Before the beginning
Hermione sat cross-legged on the floor of the living room of the Burrow, surrounded by the extended Weasley family (plus a few additions, like her). Everyone else was bursting with happiness, their eyes sparkling, and about sixteen conversations were happening at once in loud, bubbly voices. Every so often one voice would rise about the din, and Hermione would catch a glimpse of phrases such as "the Crumple-Horned Snorkack" and "the Chudley Canons chaser," each glimpse making her smile as she discerned its speaker.
But the smiles faded quickly, and each time she found herself wondering how she could find the peace and ease they all seemed to feel.
My current story is about Hermione feeling uncomfortable after the Battle of Hogwarts because she's been so focused on and identified with the boys for so long, and she wants to move beyond that.
