car ashtray overflowing, bottles breaking in the recycling bin when the garbage goes out. stars winking over an endless dune sea, and a dust-cloud disappearing act forever chasing the horizon line. nightmares to outrun and bad deeds to forget doing, bloodstains he cannot wash from calloused hands. ( but don’t stop trying ; everyone needs a project. ) a bastion of peace held microcosm between her soft palms, and a pocket full of lists that all end in her name.

the boy : proud, strong, broken ; “baby, papi, corazón.” inherently gentle despite all the shit he’s seen. a veteran of the forever war iraq / afghanistan, trying to leave it all behind ever since returning home to familiar mountains and desert sunsets. species open, occupation open ; imagine something manual, or mercenary, or municipal. a cop, or a hunter? both? 

the girl : kind, soft, empathetic ; “cupcake, sugar, babygirl.” his opposite in most regards except priorities and future plans ; born fragile and needy ; a project. tender-hearted social worker, running after-hours support group programs in local community centers and getting way too attached to some of those in her care. ( namely, this one. ) cannot say no to him, no matter how hard she tries. 

the setup : he needs her ; she needs him ; trust issues abound. he knows nothing of her past or her mother or her power ; she knows nothing of all the burdens he cannot lay down. it comes out in fragments between them, forced unwilling between the teeth. 

the parallels : luz & ray ( gold fame citrus ) / janie & tea cake ( their eyes were watching god ) / ted & alexis ( schitt’s creek )

the details : i really. want. his. face. ( prolonged whining sound ) but i’ll talk options if you love the plot, because i’m just almost as thirsty for the concept itself. his age can be anywhere between 30-40ish ; i kinda sorta prefer him younger but also i don’t actually care, just gimme. also, pretty much anything else mentioned in the ad is like, up for discussion? you can change everything down to the bare bones and i’ll probably still like it. ( am i coming off as desperate yet? yes? good. )
