Unnamed Women of the Three Houses and other textual ghosts 1/?
Anoriel of the House of Bëor, the mother of Morwen and wife of Baragund. the name I chose myself is Sindarin.
Neither the mother of Morwen nor her parents or any other maternal family is mentioned in canon. In The Shaping of Middle Earth, Tolkien originally had the mothers of Morwen and Rían as being of the house of Marach, his original reason for them having survived the Bragollach and ending up in Hithlum. He discarded this however, making Morwen and Rían refugees of the Bragollach but never saying anything more about their mothers.
My headcanons for Anoriel are in her tag but I headcanon that she was an oral historian and writer who loved taking documenting the family histories of others in Ladros as well as the nomadic groups who came through. Most of her records were destroyed in the Dagor Bragollach. She spoke several dialects of Sindarin as well as Bëorian Taliska. She was cheerful and lively, both she and Baragund were quite young when Morwen was born.
