April is sexual assault awareness month. For #30daysofSAAM, hosted by @NSVRC #NSVRC, I am posting #somethingteal: my test-run of the #wearteal day of action, Tuesday, April 3rd. In my hands is a book of my heart: myself and 24 fellow sexual assault survivors donated poems, letters, and other writings, plus Q&A sections, and where are we nows to create a resource designed and edited by Erin Moulton. The goal was to equip teens and others with a tool to educate, normalize, and support healing and recovery for other survivors of sexual assault. I believe we have done that with THINGS WE HAVEN'T SAID. Every purchase benefits survivors in at least 2 ways: 1. Survivors can benefit from the support and knowledge of fellow survivors. By reading the 25 diverse accounts of how we survived sexual assault, the reader gains from each unique yet similar experience. Common threads echo among each contributor. 2. The majority of proceeds are being donated to two organizations that support survivors: @rainn and The Voices and Faces Project. I hope you will join me in raising your voice, and in letting survivors know they are believed, and healing is possible. #SAAPM #SAAM #sexualassault #April2018 #Survivors #healingispossible #healing #recovery
