Two things I'm annoyed about that Debbie did concerning Brian, are to do with his parents. I didn't particularly agree when Brian told her his father had come to see him to say he had cancer and was dying, and she told him to come out to him. Saying she knew Brian thought he never loved him but because he told him he had cancer, Brian should somehow repay the favour by coming out to him. Ultimately whatever Debbie thinks she knew about Brian's home life, he's the one who had to live it and as we saw his father was vile to him wishing him dead when he did tell him, which was such a brave and hard thing for him to do.
Secondly when Brian tells her he had cancer and she asks him if he's told his mother and he says no. When she sees Joan later in church we find out Debbie told her, when Joan goes to see Brian at Kinnetik. Again his mother is awful to him saying he's being punished because he's gay. Both times she took the autonomy from Brian over two huge decisions regarding his life and both times he got a negative response, she didn't do it maliciously but sometimes I feel she crosses the line.
