Sudden realization that the inciting incident for my meta remarks on both ochako, himiko, and shouta concerning honesty was because a few weeks ago a friend told me they do not value it for itself, and would frequently lie for no reason. Like, would tell someone they had toast for breakfast when they actually had eggs.
"why?" I asked, baffled as to why someone would lie when there was nothing to gain from it
"idk, why not?" Asked the friend, who saw no reason to tell the truth for the truth's sake. "It didn't hurt anyone, and they're not owed the information on what I eat."
#like... didn't really think people would do that#but now i know#yes the friend values trust and correct information so far as it is needed#but if someone doesn't need to know something why tell the truth?#like they would just leave it to a toss up#sometimes tell the truth#sometimes lie#and honestly that probably just means they're a better liar when they do need to since... practice and all that#anyway. since then it's haunted me but. i can't say it does not extremely vibe with shouta to me#which is frustrating bc man i didn't need that complete change in my interpretation of him#but i can't let it go now!#yes my friend is a mutual and probably knows I'm talking about them#it's ok I won't say who you are
