Are you able to gain uk citizenship whilst keeping US citizenship? I didn’t realise this, I need to tell my mum to do this! I already have duel citizenship.
Yeah, the US and the UK both allow dual citizenship, so I can keep both if I want to. But I really don’t want to.
The thing is, the US is the only country on earth that collects taxes based on citizenship, not residence. I’ve never made enough money to actually owe the US anything, but the idea of having to file with the IRS for the rest of my life even though I never intend to live in the US again is depressing and annoying. So I really want to renounce my US citizenship because the US is a greedy festering stinkhole of a third world country and I want nothing further to do with it. And just to prove what a shit country the US is, they have the highest charges in the world for renouncing citizenship because if they didn’t they’d lose too many citizens and it would look bad.

Haha, funnily enough, I have actually got a 'are you off the telly?' before. When I was buying food at Goodwood, no less. It worked in my favour though, because I didn't have enough change and he let me off. ;3
