My biggest byler proof is that I can't imagine an end where byler isn't endgame like these are the options:
1-Mike doesn't find out, he still is BFFs with Will creating this strange and painful dynamic full of tension
2-Mike finds out last minute and it is left ambiguous, honestly idk how to feel about that, it leaves too much "up to interpretation"
3-Mike finds out and he rejects Will, creating a PAINFULLY UNCOMFORTABLE dynamic and just ignoring the painting plot
4-Mike doesn't find out but Will moves away so it's okay, the arc got absolutely no resolution
5-Will ends up with another guy from his SMALLTOWN, where gay people are SUPER UNACCEPTED randomly.
Would you want one of these to be the ending to that subplot? Be honest
