CHAPTER VII — INTO THE ABYSS PT II: BEYOND THE VEIL.
THE GHOST OF BLACKPOOL.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐍 ––– ancient and unknowable, somnian folksongs both sing of his praises and warn against his wiles. known by many names, he is the stormborn, the raven of the kestrel isles, and the ghost of blackpool. the company, however, has come to know his true name, the name that came first: hrafn.
born in an unknown age, he is a relic of a forgotten time. with the great cleansing having happened over two centuries ago — and the decline of the elvhen people having been happening for some time before that — hrafn is the last of his kind, consumed by grief in isolation.
as such, his magic is elvhen in nature and therefore considered tenebri, heretical, and far beyond the means of man. he is a far more powerful mage than any of the party could have anticipated — able to manipulate and control the black according to his will, and tear open the veil between their world and the world of chaos that lies within its seams: where all magic draws its source and where demons lie in wait.
after confronting him, it seems only more questions have arisen: who was he? what is the nature of his connection to the black? what else is he capable of? and, perhaps most alarmingly — has he been following them on their journey all along?
𝐆𝐄𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐇𝐈𝐂 𝐋𝐎𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 : hrafn resides in the black spire, in the center of the black city in the region that has come to be known as blackpool.
𝐎𝐅 𝐅𝐔𝐑𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄 : after wandering into the black as a child, the hermit seems to have an interesting connection to the stormborn.
