Grilled chicken (gai yaang) and papaya salad (som tam) is the staple meal for many.
Bangkok style meals also have salted egg as an option to add to the green papaya salad. Or go for a different veggie all together -- fresh corn salad.

Today was the first day of my vacation before heading on to China. I flew from Bangkok to Osaka, and honestly, leaving my mom, dad, and sister behind made me feel a little sad and lonely. It’s a quiet kind of longing and hoping they’re all okay until we see each other again.
During the five-hour Air Asia flight, I ordered some food for lunch.
Grilled chicken with sticky rice and papaya salad.
I had pretty high expectations when I saw the picture. But when the food actually arrived, I was like, seriously? ʕಠ_ಠʔ
The number of chicken pieces in the menu photo is so few compared to what actually came out on the plate. Honestly, I don’t think they should make the promo pics look that different from the real thing.
In the picture there are almost 10 pieces, but the real one has 3 big pieces and 1 small piece.
My happiest day
