reine mercier / thirty three / hunter

the mercier family which was predominantly male, have been around for over three centuries. reine and her younger sister are the first two females born into the family for just a few years over a century.

from an early age, her mother taught her how to master poise and exhibit elegance effortlessly. from how she held herself to how she talked to what she wore. whilst her father showed and taught her what it meant and took to be a hunter. she excelled, showing more promise unarmed than with a weapon in her hands. although if you see her with her dual sai? run.

reine’s family originally reign from neuilly-sur-seine in france, with townhouses and mansions all over other french towns, more so in paris. although, when she was five, they moved to paris on a more permanent basis. it was there she witnessed the death of her father after his vendetta with a coven lead to his demise.

being forced watching him bleed from every pore lit a fire within her, a flame that to this day has never stopped burning and although she may have mercy when it comes to humans, she has an extreme hatred of witches. to avenge her fathers death she enlisted help of other family members and allies to execute the members of the coven with one request, the leader was left to her who, like reine’s father, bled out of every pore before her death.

after years of dedicating her time and effort into her faction, which she became the leader by birth right because of her fathers death. reine, by default took over his seat on the council which a few of her people grew envious of, not only did they view a woman running their faction ridiculous because she in no means was anything like her father, but a council member too? those who protested were dealt with and those who were challenged? lost. she was her fathers daughter after all.

reine’s other weapon is a whip made out of silver electrum wire which has been enchanted into a pendant. when she uses it as a weapon, the actual pendant area of the necklace becomes a sharp bladed end whilst the rest extends upon throwing.

coming to birch bay and leaving her sister and family, as well as some of her people was something she struggled in adjusting to but this was a fight she couldn’t miss and didn’t want to. her responsibility was to save lives, human lives and to investigate / stop the mysterious deaths in the town of birch bay.

to end on a lighter note, her name literally means queen. bitches & witches beware.

is described by many as odd, weird, spooky, straight up crazy

has always believed in the supernatural from a young age, thanks to her father who is also obsessed. he would come up with the craziest theories and he would always remind her of that one time he met a werewolf. (”supposedly” her mother used to say) 

moved to birch bay when she was 11, after her little brother died of drowning, her parents’ divorce and not to mention the fact that her father was sent to a mental ward institution because he kept “seeing” his son’s ghost

is 100% sure there are werewolves in birch bay, because she swore she heard a werewolf howl, her mother is skeptical about it (as well as everyone else) 

despite not being a strong Catholic, she always wears a crucifix necklace around her neck....and to tell the truth, it’s because she wants “to keep the vampires at bay” 

if you want to know how to ward off demons or werewolves, she’s the one to go to

she’s actually a really nice person though, it’s just that....she likes to ramble on about the existence of supernatural creatures rather than boys and make up. would honestly be surprised if somebody paid attention to her

would bring a camera with her everywhere (you know...just in case...she bumped into a werewolf who KNOWS...) whether it’s on her phone or an actual camera

born and raised in birch bay and absolutely hates the town.

always felt like the odd one out in her coven 

after high school, she went to a college far from birch bay and later moved to san francisco where she worked for years as a wedding planner 

which is ironic, because she never got married

a workaholic known to be uptight and bossy, and has a great bitchface. and she also does have a heart. something a lot of people would be surprised at knowing. 

when she had gotten a call from her sister that her mother had a heart attack, she decided to come down to birch bay to visit her

it was a halloween night when she arrived and instead of driving down to the hospital, she went to the graveyard where she felt like something was pulling her there and ended up performing a ritual she had never done before and swore she has only read it from her family’s grimoire years ago

and now she has a ghost following her. a GHOST. which she is totally not going to bring to san francisco, thank you very much.

Freyja Skyn Ellwood- Twenty One – Elemental Witch -  Waitress – Tinkerbell

Freyja is a fraternal twin, but not the twin with a good head on their shoulders. Being born first didn’t really mean she looked out for anyone, not even herself. Gunner takes care of himself well, Freyja on the other hand? Well she needs a baby sitter.

She was severely bulled from age eleven until she graduated high school. She was bullied about everything. Mostly her interests in fantasy books. Middle school bullies hurt, but high school bullies hurt the most, and she only knew how to deal with it one way, and that was through self harm.

The self harm was how she found out she was a witch. She healed herself, and despite running to her mother absolutely freaked out claiming that she had cut herself shaving but the gash was gone now and she didn’t know what to do. It was a good thing her mother was also a witch. But it’s not like finding her niche in elemental magic really helped her out with the bullying problem.

She ran away, actually. She spent a year traveling. Frist through the united states, and then spending five months in Europe. She honed her magic and found herself feeling a lot better about herself over there. Having connected deeply with Norway, the country her family descended from, she had dragged herself away to come back to Washington where she suffered a severe relapse.

But she’s okay now. That’s what the black cats for. Hlin means “protectress” in Old Norse. Freyja found it amusing. The cat was so she could take care of something and have that responsibility of taking care of a living thing, a suicide attempt really puts things into perspective, right? And Witches do need a cat, right? To make it all come together.

She’s energized by the woods. She goes out there to think, or when she feels her energy being drained. And despite the fact that she’s an elemental witch, she reads auras very well and divines with the best of them. But she loves the woods. She’s got that whole ethereal Tinkerbelle look going on, but how could you not with all of those freckles?

She’s a master at using fiction to escape. Having grown up in Seattle, Freyja had worked in a comic book store through high school. She has stacks. Her apartment is full of leather bound books about elves and magic, and she has boxes full of comic books, all bagged and boarded up. Some days she only has the energy to read comic books, and she’s fine with that. Sometimes escapism is the only way she can get her head on straight. Some days flipping a book is the only thing she has energy for. Somedays its hard being depressed and a Witch.

Kiki & I were talking vamps and we came up with some questions for the staff!

1. How were people approached for the experiment? Did government agents keep watch on criminals/potential patients and approach them? Were they told about the possibility of dying or that all previous attempts had failed?

2. Could patients see each other during treatment?

3. How long were they experimented on? Were all 12 of them experimented on from 1967-73 or were they in like “the last group” that would have been brought in towards the end of that time frame?

4. Where were they held by the government after returning from the dead? Were they monitored and fed animal/human blood? Did they have to murder more people in order to escape once their humanity returned?

5. Did all 12 vampires stick together after escaping or could some of them parted ways for a while before coming to Birch Bay?
