Well I’m back from 9 days with my grandmother and uncle (and at the end my other uncle) in Sweden and Denmark. I was once again reminded how my uncle is my “kindred spirit,” never tiring of riding shotgun and playing navigator as we drove through the country roads of the Northern Jutland and made jokes we knew my grandmother couldn’t hear. We ate amazing food (because my uncle only expects the best and does his research) including so much seafood which I have been missing here in Paris. One of my favorite places was this bed and breakfast in the tiny town of Sønderskov, where this woman lived on this huge piece of property over looking these ponds that gathered fog at night in the most stunningly beautiful way. She made us this huge spread for breakfast that was all homemade and we watched the birds as we talked. I want to hole up and spend a week there, reading by the pond. In any case, Stockholm, Odense, Aalborg, Copenhagen, and all the other places in between were great, and I was very sad to leave them.
