our story | celebrating in sweden.

although it’s been nearly 9 months that we got married in cambridge, mass., christian & i decided to host a party for friends and family in sweden last weekend. the celebration was also a farewell party for christian, as he will leave his home and country in late september to start a new chapter of life in boston. (with me, of course!)

the party was hosted in a small house in the center of lund, christian’s home town (also home to one of sweden’s largest universities).

typical to swedish events and holidays of any sort, the party involved singing, speeches and general merriment. (the reason for lack of pictures!)

it was an emotional night to reconnect with wonderful friends & family that i don’t see regularly and from whom christian will soon be separated by the atlantic. the celebration lasted until the sun came up, and i went to sleep reassured that distance doesn’t hinder family and love. but will only make those things stronger.

i miss you already, sverige, but will surely return.

collaborate | design is everywhere. design museum boston partner.

the design museum boston is a new kind of museum and a newcomer to new england. believing that design is for everyone, the DMB's mission is to educate and to unite the Massachusetts design community in ways that enrich our collective work, make businesses more competitive, and solve real-world problems more creatively. 

with no physical location, the DMB brings design to the people. its most recent exhibit - street seats - featured designs from individuals and teams from around the world who were asked to reimagine the public bench. street seats draws attention to the design that is around us that we may not realize.

son & dotter is now an official member partner of the DMB and supports the notion that good design should be accessible for everyone, smart and meant for everyday use. clear tenets of scandinavian design. you can read more here about the benefit you can receive from our shop by supporting DMB.
