This is the first in a series @80soleff and I are writing of headcannons based on songs!!

For background: they’re already together in this
- Richie comes to eddies house one sunny June morning at 6:30am and picks him up
- But he doesn’t take them to the school
- Richie drives straight past it and right to the beach
- Eddie is apprehensive at first but Richie grabs his thigh and suddenly he’s all In
- They get there and after some convincing rent surfboards
- Richie tries to teach Eddie how to surf but has to bribe him with ice cream
- “One more wave for a double scoop!!”
- Eddie tries to get out of surfing another wave but richie chases Eddie through the water and grabs him by the waist, spinning him around while he giggles
- Their kisses are laced with salt water and smiles
- Eddie can’t stop staring into Richie’s eyes, which have turned from a deep brown to an enticing gold under the summer sun
- Since Richie got to teach Eddie to surf, Eddie decides he’s going to teach Richie how to fly a kite
- Of course, when Richie finally gets his kite up he starts running around the beach and trips and falls into the water, soaking his clothes
- When Eddie extends his hand to help Richie up he pulls him down into the water
- “Richie Tozier, you’re lucky i love you.”
- they go back home and stay the night at Eddie’s house, and he can’t get the sand out of his bed for weeks

- the song richie would dance to in his shared ny apartment with eddie, waiting for him to get home from work.
- Richie spilled coffee on his pants on his way home from work so he took them off right when he got inside
- Basically he’s wearing shades, socks, boxers and a long button up t shirt
- so what i’m trying to say is risky business
- He’s so giddy and excited for the love of his life to come home that he connects his phone to the sound system and starts blasting his feel-good jam
- he jumps up on the couch with the remote in his hand belting this shit out and air guitarring.
- he’s being so loud that he doesn’t here eddie come in as he’s staring out the window pointing at the city and shit
- eddie is leaning against the doorframe, grinning so wide and just thinking
- “this is my boyfriend omg this D O R K is mine”
- It takes richie almost the entire song to realize Eddie has been watching him the whole time
- As a joke, later that night Eddie puts it on while they’re cooking dinner
- And he uses the wooden spoon dripping with spaghetti sauce as a microphone
- And gets it all over the floor
- From then on every time one of them is in a bad mood and needs some cheering up they play this song and everything is ok.
- just for a few minutes, it’s like that first time all over again, young and in love, and dancing.
Sunmary: “even when it rains, I need your little rays.... some things never change, even when they hurt.”

Number two in a series of headcannons based on songs. In collaboration with @80soleff

- Richie and Eddie had to part ways for college
- because even though they love each other beyond words, they can’t put themselves through long distance
- eddie was in school in the Midwest and Richie was working at a radio station in California
- They tried it at first, but being apart was too hard. they couldn’t focus on school or anything for that matter
- so they cut off all contact and try to not think about each other because it hurts less than being apart
- But in the summers, they both end up back in Derry and run into each other
- Meeting up in the summers during college kinda became an annual thing
- And when they do get these little wisps of each other they are always able to finally figure things out
- In the sense that the presence of each other is as if someone putting the last few pieces of a puzzle together
- being together for them, even In The little amount of time they allow themselves, is like the little click when you put two puzzle pieces together...
- that’s what it’s like inside for richie and Eddie when they remember each other after a long time, too
- They take every last moment together to heart and cherish it for what the summer gives them
- The summer is their favorite time, because it’s warm and fuzzy and happy
- And they begin to realize that they are each other’s sunshine
- For Eddie, it’s like he’s a lilac and Richie is his sunshine
- And plants need both Sun and Rain to live
- And even when it rains, even when Eddie gets all the water there is in the world, all the rain that his new life can give him, he still needs Richie’s little rays
- he can’t change that no matter how much it hurts to need Richie
- And of course this same metaphor works both ways for both of them
- And in the future, they both move to sunny states because for some reason they they just can’t quite put their finger on, they crave the sun.
