I wrote this song when I was teaching in South Central in Los Angeles in the 90’s (right after the Rodney King Riots). I saw a huge need in society back then especially in the inner city schools it was what inspired me to start building The Joy House for kids. I saw the “world problem” back then. I am very surprised it took 30 years for the world to “wake up”. These problems should have been addressed decades ago! This song “Jump for Joy” is one of the many, many songs I have written that gave me hope back then, gave the kids hope and continues to give me hope. Writing songs just kept me going and believing in myself and what I had to do! I think the lyrics are extremely relevant!
