In a world that often measures productivity by grades, resumes, and how “useful” your time looks on paper, it’s easy to feel guilty for spending time on things that simply bring you joy.
But here’s the truth: your happiness has value.
Whether it’s doodling in the margins of your notes, rewatching your favorite show, going down a Wikipedia rabbit hole, baking banana bread, or stargazing at 2 a.m.—if it fills you with joy, peace, or wonder, it matters. It shapes who you are. It replenishes you. And that is never a waste.
Some of the most meaningful parts of your life won’t show up on a college app or job resume. But they’ll show up in how you treat people, how you see the world, and how you stay connected to who you are.
So don’t rush to justify every moment with an outcome.
Let joy be enough. 🌟

Find your joy!
One of the "selfish" reason why I like to paint imagirany still life paintings I paint is because I secretly want to be an interior designer. I am serious! I used to have a huge stack of interior magazines and cutouts glued onto pieces of papers as my favorite interior scene collections. For me painting is a fantastic way to connect to the most magical place in my heart where I find joy. So in a sense I am marie-kondoing in my painting. Every piece of object in my painting sparks joy. Joy is the key word. Do you know why that is? Well, I will be sharing my deepest why very soon. Now I want you to find one thing or one memory that sparks joy in your heart. Share it with me if you want to! #findyourjoy #joyfator #secretreasonwhy #findyourwhys #whydoyoucreatwhatyoucreate #shareyourstories #storytelling #emikovenlet #oilpaintersofinstagram #vancouverartist #northvancouverartist #flowerarrangement #onlinegallery #buyartonline #onlinepresence #interiordesigner #interiormagazine #interiordesign #scandinavianinterior #northshorehome #westvancouverhome #artforrestaurant #tabletopstilllife #oilpaintingofstilllife #nostalgicpainting #stilllifepaintingofpoeonies #flowerandpoem #paintlikeapoet #successfulartist #artthasells (at North Vancouver, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPuCRrtskE3/?utm_medium=tumblr

How could I feel badly For trying to discover myself? I wasn’t always in the right But wasn’t inherently trying to hurt anyone either
So again, why did I feel badly for this? It’s a part of life--an important one too Might not know the meaning of life But it’s a part of my journey to figure out mine
