There's something so utterly moving about the Sonic 3 trailer and how it's formatted, the way it uses it's imagery and dialogue to explain everything we need to know and more about Shadow's story and how it'll influence the third movie heavily. The way Sonic and Shadow are immediately reflected and explained in their similarities and differences.

Sonic found his family after losing his mother figure. Those around him are proud to have them in their lives and encourage him to stay true to himself. All while explaining how Shadow was just like Sonic, how he lost someone important to him too, but unlike him he didn't find family. He didn't get to surround himself with everything Sonic has now, so all he has left is something broken, a last stand.

And I find it so fucking interesting how it sounds like that General is speaking to Sonic, sharing all this intimate knowledge about Shadow. Will it be a scene? Is it just for the trailer? Either way it's so fucking important how the trailer literally starts and ends with Sonic and Shadow being reflected in one another, explained using one another visually too!

Knuckles points out Shadow's "impressiveness" compared to Sonic and Shadow comments on their colorful and unique disposition, unfamiliar, not something he expected. How Sonic still banters and talks a lot but Shadow is practically silent, everything important about his emotional state staying within his eyes. Sonic wants to talk but all Shadow does is move and move and move, never stopping. It's such a stark contrast in their characters that it's so fucking phenomenal to finally see it within the movie-verse and seen through such a good fucking trailer.

And back to Shadow's character, holy shit are these some of the BEST cinematic fucking pieces I've seen in this trailer and it all focuses around Shadow. It's all about his eyes and his hands and I am SO convinced that these hold so much fucking symbolism I will gladly explain in another post. As well as the way Sonic's body language changes around Shadow the further into the trailer we get.
