Sonic Expanse - “Not-Whole”
Something I’ve played around with in the past for my wider Sonic Expanse lore is that characters and concepts from other Sonic continuities exist within the world, however their roles and purposes are different based on the historical divergence and how they may have become according to the history established in Expanse/the game continuity. In particular here, I've thrown together the designs for the classic Knothole Freedom Fighters from the SatAM/Archie series! Just as a note before I delve into the individual character details: Bear in mind for the most part I focus that these have been adapted more from their SatAM incarnations for their designs and origins rather than their Archie ones, so anything post-SGW isn't considered, but I do borrow stuff from pre-reboot. With regards these "new" re-imaginings, their history is diverged and the Knothole Freedom Fighters are never formed due to the members having never met. It may be also worth viewing the original deviation for further info, as I link off to other Expanse-related elements that are detailed within each character bio.

--- Name: Caramel the Rabbit Original: Bunnie Rabbot Age: 16 Species: Rabbit Location: South Island Backstory: Coming from a very wealthy and aristocratic family, Caramel is the niece of Vanilla the Rabbit and cousin of Cream the Rabbit. Caramel visits her aunt's property from time to time to see how she is doing, not fully understanding why she prefers to live in seclusion to raise her young daughter alone- Cream looks up to Caramel quite fondly like an older sister and wishes to be more like her when she grows up! She feels a little sorry for her aunt after her husband left her to raise her child, as a result Caramel wishes to do what she can to help out their family in any way she can. Caramel is immensely wary of a certain pauper of a Crocodile that likes to hang around Vanilla- She has a sneaking suspicion that he's merely after their family's wealth! Divergence: Unlike the history of the SatAM timeline, Dr Robotnik isn't established in time as a ruthless war tyrant, and as such does not raise war against Mobians or build the technology for molecular robotocization. Bunnie never goes through her partial roboticzation nor does she become a Freedom Fighter, instead living her life as apart of Vanilla and Cream's extended family. She is very lady-like in demeanor, but can be quite hot-headed in the face of adversity. -- Name: Sir Depardieu / "The Departer" Original: Antoine Depardieu Age: 18 Species: Coyote Location: Delmont Province, Grand Kingdom Backstory: Having been born in the Delmont Province of the Grand Kingdom, from a young age Antoine was raised by his family to one day join the Royal Guard of the Aleeanean House. During the early years of his training, the Depardieu family received word that their relatives living in the Mobian Isles are fearful due to the rise of terrorist attacks carried out by the new leader of the Battle Kukku Army. Unfortunately, as residents of the Delmont Province they are unable to lend their support in the relief effort due to the Grand Kingdom's political standing with the Mobian Isles, leaving them to handle their own internal affairs. Antoine would grow up to complete his military training, becoming a highly renowned soldier of the Royal Guard and being appointed Knighthood as "Sir Depardieu". He is now involved in assisting the training of the secret task force, known only as the "BODY". Divergence: As per the above, the divergence is evident with the lack of the threat of Robotnik against the Mobians. However, in place of that attack comes the rise of the Battle Kukku Army led under the new rule of Grand Battle Kukku 15th. Unlike the SatAM timeline, Antoine is not sent prematurely to assist in the effort due to the political constraints, and as such stays to complete his training and becoming a formidable soldier, perhaps even being a bit too egotistical about his abilities. -- Name: Boo-Marra Original: Rotor Walrus Age: 16 Species: Walrus Location: Holoska Backstory: Due to the frequent terrorist attacks carried out by the Battle Kukku Army across the Mobian Isles, the Walrus family traveled afar to keep out of harm's way, making their way to their prior homeland of Holoska. Boo-Marra is born and raised in safety in the snow country, however due to it being a Human settlement he does feel lonely at times being one of few Mobians living in the area. The only other family of Mobians living there are a group of Polar Bears- Boo-Marra had a particularly hard time getting along with the eldest son of the family as he didn't speak that much, however he was able to form a close friendship with the younger sister, Branch. Together he would help with her interests using his sculpting skills to build her specialized sleds- Which to his constant shock Branch would love to stand on as she sled down on them! Divergence: Rotor never grows up in the Mobian society, as such never meeting or having anything to do with Mobian culture. He is born with a Holoskan name, "Boo-Marra" in order to fit in amongst the human inhabitants of the country. He would much later have a hard time dealing with the outside world when Branch forces him to travel with her, but he is still immensely excited about the experience and the chance to learn more about his own kind. -- Name: Ricochet the Star Original: Sally Acorn Age: 15 Species: Chipmunk Location: West Side Island Backstory: Sally, preferring to go by her "Hero" title, Ricochet, is an inhabitant of West Side Island of the Mobian Isles. However Ricochet likes to see herself as more than a commoner, and instead is very special in that she is the daughter of the Prime Minister of the Island! As a politician's daughter she grows up with a very entitled outlook, being exclusively safe from the terror happenings affecting the lesser islands. Despite this, Ricochet from a young age grew to look up to and admire the famed Hero of Green Hill, Feel the Rabbit, and wishes to be more like him- especially with the amount of fame and popularity he receives from taking on the Battle Kukku Army directly! Currently she is studying at West Side University where she is considered the absolute top of the food chain- The way it's supposed to be in her eyes especially now that she's pursuing the nephew of her idol, hoping getting close to him would advance her own social standing. Divergence: Of course, once again with the lack of the tyrannical threat of Robotnik on the scale of his actions in SatAM, Sally lives out a relatively normal life save for the exception of internal terrorist attacks between Mobians. Due to the development of the Mobian Isles' history, they are not governed by a Royal monarchy, instead being a political branch of the United Federation. She's very arrogant and pushes others beneath her at the University she attends under her thumb.
