Cele/saya

falls asleep on the couch : Once again, I’ll still go with the idea that Sayaka tries to keep a decent sleep schedule. Celes, on another hand… the world of gambling mostly exists during the night, and she can end up really tired. Sayaka always wakes her up to tell her to go to bed.

makes friends with the neighbors : Sayaka is just the friendliest person, despite the fact that she keeps her relationships with them on surface level. Celes is pleasant enough, but she also casts an intimidating aura that makes it harder for people to come close - and she isn’t complaining.

is the adventurous eater : They both enjoy exotic food - with a bonus when it’s expensive food for Celes. Unfortunately, Sayaka has a very strict diet and can’t always eat whatever she feels like… so Celes, on this one, I suppose.

hogs the covers at night : Ha ! None of them, actually ! None of them can sleep without warmth, so it wouldn’t do it.

forgets to do the dishes : They both do. Especially just straight-up doesn’t like doing it, Sayaka rarely has time. Really, they probably pay someone to take care of it for them.

tries to surprise their partner more often : Whenever one of them find out about a nice place to visit, or to eat, they love taking the other there. Bonus for Celes who just took Sayaka on a trip to Europe without telling her before they reach the airport.

leaves dirty laundry on the floor : None of them. They both really dislike mess. Once again, they are probably the kind of lesbians who can’t do anything BUT are rich and have some kind of standard, so they have someone paid to take care of their house, especially considering how busy they are.

stays up til 2 AM reading : Between the two of them, I’d say Celes. When she is caught up in a book, she won’t stop until she is done with !

sings in the shower : Celes only sings when she is sure no one is home. Sayaka loves singing, and she has a very good voice. She mostly sings stupid pop songs. Nothing from her band, though.

takes the selfies : Sayaka loves taking selfies about everything, and then post her stuff on Instagram. Celes indulges her, sometimes.

plans date night : Probably Celes more, to be honest ? Sayaka just has this schedule that she doesn’t dare to deviate of too much, but Celes can feel the need to be pampered and to enjoy life just like that, and she ‘ll drag Sayaka with her.

Soni/giri

falls asleep on the couch : Between the two, probably Kirigiri. She is the one with the Exhausting Life, after all. When she is working on a case, she can tire herself a lot, but is so stubborn that she won’t go to bed early.

makes friends with the neighbors : Oh, Sonia. Who wouldn’t want to be friend with her ? Kirigiri tries to be polite and all, but she doesn’t care for friendship at all.

is the adventurous eater : Even years after coming to Japan, Sonia still have her ‘ooooh, new ! shiny !’ moments when she finds some type of traditionnal food she didn’t know about. This is very cute, but some of the stuff she tries is… really weird.

hogs the covers at night : Well, Sonia always need a pile of blanket to feel warm, so she technically does. That said, Kirigiri always try to stay under a blanket too. It would be hard to no to. Their bed is a giant pile of blankets.

forgets to do the dishes : Probably Sonia, she isn’t used to it, poor girl.

tries to surprise their partner more often : When Sonia has a - crazy - idea inside her head, it needs to get out, and it will. The usual thing she’ll try to pull out is that she’ll bring home any stray animal. Thank god, the Ultimate Detective is always able to find their family.

leaves dirty laundry on the floor : Just as for the dishes, Sonia isn’t used to having to pick them up… bad habits, girl, bad habits.

stays up til 2 AM reading : They both can do it, but Sonia does that more often, and for stuff that isn’t necessarily work-related.

sings in the shower : Oh, Sonia. The neighbours complain a bit.

takes the selfies : Sonia is a selfie-addict. She even has a selfie-stick. Kirigiri thinks it’s outrageous.

plans date night : Whenever Kirigiri is done with a case, she always make a point to take her girlfriend on a nice date ~

My take on their canon relationship:

They don’t have one. I can’t remember one instance where they talked to each other be it in anthologies or TDP.

Do I ship them?

Sure.

Reasons why I do/don’t ship them:

Because…girls…

I do kinda like the idea of two characters who are ‘putting on airs’ interacting because it can lead to interesting conflicts and tension.

Probably.

I’m sorry my reasons can only be shallow because I’m not invested in Celes at all as a character, lol.

Headcanon, if any:

Maizono’s very good at having a cheerful face during a poker game. Celes would definitely find her to be an interesting opponent, at least.

My take on their canon relationship:

I’M ALSO PRETTY SURE THEY DON’T HAVE ONE AND HAVE NEVER SPOKEN TO EACH OTHER IN ANY OF THE MATERIALS. I remember Sonia interacting with Togami (in Chapter 6, I mean) but I don’t think she really does with Kirigiri.

Do I ship them?

Yes!

Reasons why I do/don’t ship them:

GIRLS!!!

Okay in a more genuine sense, I actually do think these two would get along together pretty well. They both have the interesting similarity in that they’re burdened with great responsibility by their families, although Sonia is a lot less comfortable with that than Kirigiri is. But I think that could be a good conversation between the two of them, especially since Kirigiri would be more encouraging and good about pointing out Sonia’s stronger points, providing a bit of a well-needed confidence boost. Sonia could also coax Kirigiri into being more open, and it could be a more mutual thing.

They probably share a lot of elegant tastes, too, although I’m all for the idea of Kirigiri being goaded into trying some very interesting Novoselic dishes. Also who doesn’t love the idea of two badass girlfriends hunting a golden Makango?

I love that idea.

Someone write a film noir mystery with this pairing before I cry.

One of the things that helps Sonia through a rough night is braiding Kirigiri’s hair.

My take on their canon relationship:

They had one whole event together in TDP and it was honestly the most wholesome shit I’ve ever seen.

Let Tenko be a defender of all girls (who swoon in return) forever. It suits her so much better. Also Mikan giggling at Tenko complimenting her is also pretty cute and not deliberately self-destructive like her behavior usually is.

Do I ship them?

Yes!

Reasons why I do/don’t ship them:

Because Tenko has shown in Chapter 3 that she’s unwilling to put up with self-destructive and harmful methods of coping so there’s a good chance she’s not going to put up with Mikan’s manipulative tendencies.

So their relationship is a lot likely to work through initial unhealthiness and Tenko would encourage Mikan into actively being better not just for her own sake but for others as well. It’ll be a rocky road getting there but I like to think that Mikan would genuinely try for Tenko’s sake and later her own. I also really like the idea of Tenko just inspiring Mikan from how expressive and enthusiastic she is, and the idea of someone trying to be better because they want to do right by this other person that they’re so inspired by is just… I’m weak.

There is a concern about Tenko getting a little too life coach-y, but I like to think that Tenko would encourage Mikan into seeing an actual therapist so that the issue is side-stepped at least a little.

I also think that Mikan could help Tenko in return because Mikan can get a little harsh and outspoken if she’s confident enough so she could probably help Tenko be a little less…uh. Dumb. Naive, too, I guess.

She’d probably feel really bad for telling off Tenko, but tbh I think being told off would inspire Tenko to try and pick up better on the mood so that she can emotionally mature a little more.

This got a lot longer than I thought it would.

Headcanon, if any:

Tenko immediately covers Mikan up whenever she falls. It’s her instinct. Mikan is at first very bewildered by this.
