I've wanted to combine places with music for a long time.  Especially for my sonøren project which revolves so much around sampling and remixing sounds from life, from spaces and moments in time.  This is the first run-through.  http://facebook.com/sonoren.music

A little background: 5 years ago I came to Berlin and lived here for 50 days (yes, 50) and set out to do many things. In the end the only thing I really managed to do was learn how to use a piece of music software called Ableton Live. It was then (and still is) remarkable because at the time it freed me from many creative obstacles in making music at home, and today together with Ableton Push I can in theory make music anywhere, which I've since done in over 15 live shows in little over a year. To think back to how (difficult) things used to be is quite amazing.

What follows is a montage  of video clips (recorded during and after - I only have so many hands) of my little unrehearsed jam.  The audio you here is a 100% live recording, and all the music I made there right on the spot, after first recording a loop of the passing boat.

It feels special to sit there 5 years later, after many things in life having already having, many for the better.  I hope to make more of these videos, a series of places, atmospheres and emotions.

My sincere thanks to Menno Keij (check him out) for his help in filming this, for his patience and good humour on what was a blisteringly hot day.

I don't know what to say - And Yet I open my mouth And say something anyway - I'm sorry http://facebook.com/sonoren.music About the video: I've been thinking about how to make the usual single point of view videos a little more engaging, and less flat and safe. So I gathered together 3 cameras, and after more deliberation than you might imagine placed them in various points of the room (yes, it's my bedroom, where I make the majority of my music) I was going to alternate between the different recordings, in a normal fashion, but at some point I put them all beside each other, and it seemed to work somehow. I know it's small on a smartphone, but there you go. The music: After 3 improvised tracks, none of which I was very happy with, I decided to do one more. It went really well, it was great, I was delighted. But, alas, the audio recording didn't go at all, and so sadly all seemed lost - ah creative/technical frustration, my trusted companion.. I decided (at 4am) it was worth trying to recreate that last idea once more, and hope that I could recapture something of its essence. Thanks for watching
