<p><b><i>Dark & Long</i></b><br> Videography & Editing | Berlin |  2010<br></p><p><code> </code></p> A music video produced over the winter of 2010 in Berlin.

<p>In 2010 I quit my job and moved to Berlin for a short while, to try some things out.  In that time I had a lot of ambitions, to do some writing, to create an interesting photographic project, make some kind of short film/video, and to start making music again.  In the end I only really accomplished the latter, and taught myself how to use Ableton Live (the subject of most of the rest of my channel). I did manage to do one other thing however.  While I rented a room in Neukölln, and went out partying (including the last and final night of bar 25, which was so memorable) and I recorded some videos. When Underworld announced a video competition for their track "Dark & Long", I made this video. I didn't win.  No biggie. (ok actually I was a bit crestfallen) Anyway, Underworld was my first true love in electronic music, when my brother gave me their (still exquisite) album Beaucoup Fish.  That moment changed my life, sincerely, so I've always been grateful to them somehow.  I even made a never-asked for music video for them when I lived in Sweden (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRR01...) Anyway, I realised today that it was something perhaps worth publishing somewhere, so here it is.  Thanks for watching, and thanks Underworld for blowing my brain back in 1999 and Berlin 11 years later. </p>

25x5 (Brussels Breathes, in Colour) Photography | Brussels | 2013 Many people have been asking me why the Brussels Breathes photo series this Summer was published entirely in black and white. This was for several reasons; the focus of the series covered many areas; people, context, positive aspects, less positive aspects, and black and white reduces the amount of information in the picture, allowing other aspects of it to be read more easily, and 'glues' the series all together. There was also simply too little time to go out taking photos all day, and then correcting them as well as publishing. Finally I've found time to start looking again over the (+10,000 photos) and start selecting those that work in colour as well and black and white. The following is a small selection.

Using photos he takes of these same places, he creates prints & postcards, and releases his music together with these. Here he begins with a musical performance, re-using sounds recorded in Brussels, while showing images of these places, and ends by sending his soundtrack to everyone on a postcard. He wrote out and signed hundreds of these postcards for TEDx attendees throughout the event. Today a full-time musician and visual artist, Andri is an architect by training, and considers making music and visual art not unlike the process of design; taking existing elements and ideas and composing new works out of them.  In such a way distant sounds of the city, the cacophony of a passing parade, or snatched fragments from a conversation are resynthesized into often unrecognisable soundscapes; pieces of music that are also soundtracks from life itself.”

I don't know what to say - And Yet I open my mouth And say something anyway - I'm sorry http://facebook.com/sonoren.music About the video: I've been thinking about how to make the usual single point of view videos a little more engaging, and less flat and safe. So I gathered together 3 cameras, and after more deliberation than you might imagine placed them in various points of the room (yes, it's my bedroom, where I make the majority of my music) I was going to alternate between the different recordings, in a normal fashion, but at some point I put them all beside each other, and it seemed to work somehow. I know it's small on a smartphone, but there you go. The music: After 3 improvised tracks, none of which I was very happy with, I decided to do one more. It went really well, it was great, I was delighted. But, alas, the audio recording didn't go at all, and so sadly all seemed lost - ah creative/technical frustration, my trusted companion.. I decided (at 4am) it was worth trying to recreate that last idea once more, and hope that I could recapture something of its essence. Thanks for watching

I've wanted to combine places with music for a long time.  Especially for my sonøren project which revolves so much around sampling and remixing sounds from life, from spaces and moments in time.  This is the first run-through.  http://facebook.com/sonoren.music

A little background: 5 years ago I came to Berlin and lived here for 50 days (yes, 50) and set out to do many things. In the end the only thing I really managed to do was learn how to use a piece of music software called Ableton Live. It was then (and still is) remarkable because at the time it freed me from many creative obstacles in making music at home, and today together with Ableton Push I can in theory make music anywhere, which I've since done in over 15 live shows in little over a year. To think back to how (difficult) things used to be is quite amazing.

What follows is a montage  of video clips (recorded during and after - I only have so many hands) of my little unrehearsed jam.  The audio you here is a 100% live recording, and all the music I made there right on the spot, after first recording a loop of the passing boat.

It feels special to sit there 5 years later, after many things in life having already having, many for the better.  I hope to make more of these videos, a series of places, atmospheres and emotions.

My sincere thanks to Menno Keij (check him out) for his help in filming this, for his patience and good humour on what was a blisteringly hot day.
