one thing that the vogue interview showed was that despite not talking to him in the beginning and despite some of the things he said to the press, liam was still willing to reach out to zayn, to include him in so many things. “follow your heart and do what you have to do” “no hard feelings” “this award is for him as well” “our brother zayn” “5 years 5 boys (..) and zayn” “thanks for the memories boys i love you all” “too much history for there not to be love” “dead excited to hear his stuff”. regardless of his own emotions, liam was still taking time to be supportive of zayn, making sure he was included. directly or not, liam was showing him that even though they weren’t talking, even though he was still coming to terms with understanding why zayn did what he had to do, it didn’t mean that liam forgot about zayn. it didn’t mean that those five years meant nothing to liam. and even if it wasn’t much, im sure it meant a lot to zayn, too.

while it’s sad that things turned out the way they did in regards to zayn’s relationship with the band, i’m glad zayn has liam, at least. i’m glad that at least one person from the band came to understand zayn’s decision. i’m glad that liam, who had been so supportive of zayn when he was in the band, continued to support zayn, despite his own feelings. i’m glad that liam and zayn finally are talking, even if it’s only a little bit. i’m glad that liam came to understand that zayn’s path lay elsewhere that wasn’t in the band, and that he still wants to be a part of zayn’s life. that he still wants to fulfill dreams that him and zayn shared pre-zayn’s departure. i’m glad that in spite of everything that happened, between zayn and liam there was too much history for there not to be love.
