HEADCANON || skin 

In a majority of Katyae’s verses, she's been taught to generally AVOID skin to skin contact with anyone who isn't family. This was a means of protecting her as a child from overstimulation due to connecting to so many psyches with her empathy, which is notably very strong. But over time, this became a protective compulsion of both Caesyl and Caelys. They enforce the no skin contact rule by providing Katyae with long sleeve bodysuits and gloves that specialize in dampening her field of empathy and they chastise her if they catch her without these articles -- especially her gloves. Its so deeply ingrained in Katyae to not show any skin that her leisure clothes reflect this: she wears turtleneck sweaters, long sleeved flannel, bomber jackets, long skinny jeans, thick leggings, so many layers tbh, etc.

It makes her feel very scandalous vulnerable to reveal herself, even if it’s just her taking her gloves off or wearing a tank top. Still, her showing any skin is rarely an accident and is carefully planned. It’s a HUGE sign of the trust she has in someone, that she basically considers them to be on the same level of importance as family.
