Jian, 11, 17 and 19
answers to this ask meme
11) What was your inspiration for your OC?
This is going to sound dumb, but I actually don't remember. Jian was originally created for a heavily-homebrewed Eldar corsairs-themed Rogue Trader game that started back in 2018 (technically it's still going, just on hiatus while our group focuses on other games), which was my first intro to Warhammer whatsoever. I wound up creating her first iteration based on picking stuff that sounded cool from the character options the GM presented, and I'm sure the rest of her came from somewhere, but I couldn't tell you where :P
She's been refined, tweaked, and adjusted (I like to think improved!) significantly since then, but if you go all the way back to the beginning, I guess the inspiration was "oh, I guess I need a character for this elf space pirate game"
17) If your OC has kids, are they a good parent? Do they ever feel guilty if they have to leave them?
Jian does not have biological children in any iteration of her character currently, but in the RP that she was originally created for, she did wind up adopting a teenage Aeldari girl. She's doing her best, but I think she's more than a bit out of her depth - still fairly young, has a lot of issues of her own, and then rescues this girl from the Drukhari and is trying to help her heal too and also be a good parent... yeah. Not doing awful, but desperately needs someone more experienced to give her some advice.
Her daughter is old enough now that she's perfectly fine to be left for a while, but if something did happen that took her away from her for weeks/months, she would feel enormously guilty about it - she's already lost so much that she doesn't need to feel abandoned again, and what if something happens to one of them while they're seperated?
19) What's their sexuality? What's their love language both giving and receiving?
Jian is bisexual! Based on her sexual/romantic history, I'd guess she has a slight preference for women, but not a dominating one.
Love language I haven't thought about... Giving is easier, she loves to express affection via quality time. She enjoys going out of her way to set up activities and little moments with people she cares about. As for recieving, I think that differs by iteration. In the the original RP version, she likely values quality time as much as she enjoys giving it, but due to the differences in her life and personality in Silver Ash and Bone, I think that's shifted and she now values gifts and acts of service more - in large part because "personal ownership of objects" and "someone thinking about your needs" are both incredibly scarce in her life now so they have outsized impacts
Thanks for asking!
