I wish Tumblr could send messages equivalent of pulling someone by the sleeve while making high-pitched noises and pointing at a book cover.

sophistae replied to your post: Unjustifiably strong feels concerning Italian...
Did you mean: My entire life.
No, just the part where you obsess about Italian baroque painters. ;P
sophistae replied to your post: REMEMBER HOW I TOOK THAT LATIN FINAL EXAM AND I...
That’s great news! Congratulations!!!
HA I'm having a margarita when I go out for dinner later for sure, like this has just made my day.
I think there was some archeological evidence of human sacrifice on some Aegean island from the ancient period that was ~recently (in the last ten-to-twenty years, maybe?) discovered but no one really went on to research it but I can't seem to remember if it was specifically Greek or not because apparently I spent that part of the class getting mad at some idiot for humming during the discussion and paid no attention what the professor was saying. A+ studentship.
I just did a quick search and the top result was for an archaeological temple site on Crete called Anemospilia; according to the Wiki page:
Although many still believe that there is substantial evidence for the site being used for the sacrificing of humans, most archaeologists follow the thinking of Dennis Hughes, who points out that the "knife" is actually much more like an ornate spear head that probably fell from the shelves above onto the body, and that there is no evidence at all for the platform that he lies on being an altar.
Formaldehyde!
If I were a fictional character I would be Athena so that people would justify my rage and bitchiness and divine and then worship me and also then I could turn people into spiders or various other things if they displeased me.
sophistae:
One day, presumably before van Dyck left for England, he goes to Haarlem to find Frans Hals & persuade him to come to England. However Frans, being his usual self, is not to be found at his home, but at a tavern. The cheeky easel-whore van Dyck, on the other hand, says he is merely an individual who wants his portrait to be done by Hals, and is willing to wait for his return. Quite some time passes, as it always does, Frans comes home, drunk, and is told someone unknown is asking for a portrait! He goes to his studio, but does not realise that van Dyck, who merely says a word for he does not wish to be recognised, is the one asking for the portrait. Once he is done with painting, he asks the sitter to come over and see it. van Dyck does so, exclaiming if this is how one paints, he may try likewise, and invites Hals to sit for him. Slightly confused, but mostly drunk Hals agrees, and van Dyck starts to paint. Soon he realises the stranger who is painting him is not a novice, but still has no idea on who he is, he assumes this Ulysses would soon reveal himself. Soon enough, van Dyck asks him to get up and take a look at the painting. The moment he sees it, Frans Hals realises this prankster is no one other than van Dyck, he fells on his neck and kisses him.
The wonderful Mademoiselle N. sent this in an ask. You should be following her.
sophistae replied to your post: hey remember that time everyone was using 8tracks...
