HSPN is ten
Today, the Hair & Sports Programming Network turns ten years old.
That’s a decade’s worth of a brother and sister’s commentary on hair, Chelsea FC, and football that began on the day Fernando Torres, the owner of perhaps the greatest head of hair in football history, signed for Chelsea.
I know we say this every year, but it’s an endless surprise that anyone reads this, whether just once or more regularly. Thank you to every one of you who’s stopped by to read, like, reblog, comment, follow, or write us (you can reach us by the Ask box, Tumblr messaging, or Twitter at @hairsports). And a very special thanks to those who are longtime readers; there are still some of you who’ve been here almost since the beginning--I literally saw one of you appear in our activity dashboard the other week (and I don’t even look at it often) and I was so happy to see your name. We love our recurring jokes and eventual payoffs and if you enjoy them as much as we do, thank you.
The thing is, even if HSPN didn’t exist or if no one read it, my brother and I would still be doing this. After a year unlike any other, it feels good to laugh at someone’s stupid haircut or to celebrate a great goal. It feels normal and right and I hope we can all get back to that again soon. To my brother, thanks for always making me laugh from day one and hopefully for many, many more years to come, even if you have to sometimes get up at 4 AM to do it.
