ask meme II : happy hour. --- not accepting.send 🥂 + a question, and the muse will answer it drunk at any time during the night.

Minjae isn’t expecting that question when he sees Sora walking his way, and that’s the reason why his smile slowly gets smaller and smaller until it’s no longer there. He blinks a few times, in silence before he brings his glass to his lips and takes a small sip from it, hoping that the alcohol will help him formulate a good answer to her question. 

But it doesn’t work as well as he thought it would, as he hoped it would.

“Only if I feel like I should do it,” he says, bringing one of his hands up to brush his fingers through his hair, brushing it backwards. “And only when I am supposed to, when I’m in my office and when I am your therapist. When I’m being paid for it.”

He keeps his eyes focused on her face after he tells her his answer, waiting for her reaction as if he needed her approval or something. But he takes another sip of his drink and shrugs his shoulders, shaking his head a little bit before he speaks again, his voice is quiet and he still keeps her eyes on her face.

“But if you’re wondering if I’m doing it right now, right here, to everyone in this party, no. I’m not. And no, I don’t do it when we’re out exploring art museums together.”

🥂 + do you regret the things... we did?

    they’re sitting at the bar, both nursing their respective drinks as the question reaches yongjin’s ears, making him frown immediately. for the alcohol has been affecting his head for a while now, he needs to take a pause, his eyebrows furrow at the thought. he shakes his head afterwards, first quickly then slower, his lips pursed before he actually speaks. “no… not at all. why would i?” he lets out, turning his attention to her, inspecting her face as if he can find a reason to why she has asked him that. if it was anyone else, he would have thought it was perhaps insecurity latched under those words, but with sora, he can’t be sure.

   it’s true that it was always… awkward the day afterwards, when they saw each other in broad daylight at the headquarters, as if they haven’t borne their souls to one another in the dark, found solace under the sheets and in the warmth they seek in their lives. then again, it wasn’t something yongjin regretted. there were a lot of things he regretted in his life, a very special person he still couldn’t get over no matter how much he tried. that was always in his mind that brought along a plethora of regrets, things he should have done differently, things he shouldn’t have done. but that didn’t mean he regretted the time spent with sora in dim hotel rooms, either one of them leaving in the morning soon after the sun came up. it was… intimate, imitating a feeling he longed, an unfamiliar warmth he hadn’t gotten used to. that sora was different from the sora he ate with the day after, similar to how yongjin himself wasn’t the same as he put his mask on like her and sat down on the opposite chair. but no, he had a feeling of trust when it came to her, and he neither regretted the physical aspect, nor the fact that he wasn’t wearing a mask around her those nights.

    it just… happened. and while it shouldn’t come as a surprise, yongjin still enjoys spending time with her. as awkward as it might be at some instances, he doesn’t mind it at all. he realizes he has taken a pause, and cuts the chain of thought as he speaks again. “i don’t regret it at all, sora. i hope you don’t either. i’ll try to bother you less if you do. my art talk might have been a little too rusty.” he tries to joke, but he looks back at her with a question in his eyes before he takes a sip of his drink. only time will tell.

Training was becoming exponentially harder with every day that passed. Not necessarily physically ( although Jaehwa sort of prided herself on just how in shape she’d been getting since she began her training ) but the mental and emotional toll that primary training was taking on her was getting harder and harder to bear. Not that Jaehwa gave her instructors an easy time with her--- she must have been one of the brattiest trainees any of her instructors had ever worked with. Which only served to make sessions harder for her, as she ultimately put a target on herself and gave the instructors no choice but to pick apart her every move and call her out in front of the class. It was exhausting, but she had no one to blame but herself.

She’d originally come to the gym to keep her mind off of things, indulge in a bit of an adrenaline high in order to quiet the self-deprecating voices in her mind, if only for an hour or two. And it had been working, really, until she caught a familiar face from the corner of her eye and opted to take out one of her earbuds, slowing the speed of the treadmill. Her father’s smug face was centered on the television in the corner of the room, speaking to some reporter, probably about some policy the National Assembly was trying to pass. Or something like that. Truth be told, Jaehwa had never paid much attention to the details of her father’s job until she realized he wasn’t the upstanding man that the nation believed him to be. 

Just like that, simply seeing the face of a man she’d been avoiding for months, it was like the protective bubble in her mind shattered, heart dropping in her chest. Jaehwa nearly stumbled over her own feet as she stepped off of the treadmill and pointedly made her way out of the gym ( and away from its offending television ) and as far down the hallways of HQ as she could make it before she couldn’t quite breathe properly anymore. Sidestepping into the nearest restroom, she tugged the remaining earbud from her ear, tossing the headset along with her cell phone onto the bathroom counter. Hands flew up immediately to cover her eyes as she leaned back against the wall, mind repeatedly counting from one to ten as she tried to control her heavy breathing, something her therapist had recommended. 

She probably should have double checked that the restroom was empty before partaking in a mental breakdown, but rationality had never been Jaehwa’s strong point, so as a figure stepped out of one of the stalls and made their way to the sinks, she simply wrapped her arms around her torso, trying her hardest to make herself seem small. Best case scenario, the other woman would simply ignore her presence and go about her day, and Jaehwa would be alone to panic all she wanted.
