THE TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE

                                  August 21st through August 31st

History records the last total solar eclipse passed through the town of Moon Island some 38 years ago. Those part of history remember thirty-eight years ago as a time of darkness and chaos. There had been rumors, perhaps stories made up by teenage witches meant to frighten their friends, of the effects the solar eclipse has had on the inhabitants of Moon Island. It is known that the moon’s position over the Island has magnified many effects over the supernaturals living here, but what happens when the moon has completely overtaken the light of the sun?

Darkness will fall over Moon Island and the day will very much feel like the night. With only moonlight which will illuminate the Island, it will glow iridescent. The waters will reflect from these rays, and from the waves will come a nightmare materialized as a surreal hallucination

The glow of the Island during the past Solar Eclipse was said to cause hallucinations for the inhabitants on Moon Island. Some say it was these hallucinations that had caused the worse to happen-- murders of those who were mistaken for another. And though few believe in those rumors, they will quickly find that history truly does have a way of repeating itself.

Each character will experience their own hallucinations listed below the cut. These hallucinations will bring your character face to face with their past, their fears, or their secrets. These hallucinations will look, feel, sound, and seem very real. Some are aggressive and violent, others are not. Only the character will see their own hallucinations, no one else’s. What will your character do when faced with their weakness?

This event will start today, Monday, August 21st to Thursday, August 31st. Make sure to tag your starter as: sorevent5. We encourage you to think outside the box and plot with others. You are also encouraged to write self-paras as well. Please remember to run plots by Admins so we can keep track of what is happening. Have fun!

Alicia: Their friends who died in the fire caused by them.

Cassidy: Spencer, Castalia, a version of Roman.

Cleo: Cloe, their mother.

Constance: Her father, her mother.

Dominique: Everything she touches evaporates, a Dark!Nadine against her.

Jasper: His maker, Dark!Kayla.

Leon: Dark!Leon, Spencer.

Maya: Her parents, her surroundings constantly changing (as if her own powers are used against her)

Paolo: Someone from his family, a version of Enzo.

Petra: Her alpha.

Roman: Dominic, his parents.

Sinclair: Her victims, her adopted parents.

So-Young: Her maker, her other brother, or a version of Jae-Sung.

Dominique was attempting to calm down, she couldn’t stay in her apartment due to the fact every time she picked something up, it would evaporate out of her hands and she couldn’t calm down or figure out how to stop it from happening. The only thing she could think of was trying to find someone or a shop in town to help solve her problem. As she walked around town she couldn’t help but notice how quiet it was along with the feeling that was following her. Could it be Nadine following her? Dominique thought she had gotten away from her, That was also on her list of things to do, fix whatever happened to Nadine to make her go after Dominique like she did. Dominique quickly picked up her pace hoping that nothing was going to go down in public if it was her best friend. As she turned a corner her long brown hair which normally was perfectly done in her beach waves was frizzy and spilling over her shoulders. She felt like a mess, she couldn’t pick up a brush to even brush her own hair. She couldn’t call anyone in her own Coven to help her through any of this, The only person she had seen was Nadine and she was acting crazy, Dominique had never felt so alone in her entire life.

As she walked down an alley between two little shops, Dominique was trying to find, she heard footsteps behind her she knew she couldn’t keep running, It was time for her to stand her ground. She stopped walking, her back still turned to the person behind her, taking a deep breath she mentally and physically prepared herself for whatever she was about to deal with. She turned around, looking at the person behind her, who she couldn’t quite see yet but it didn’t stop her from standing her ground.  “Why are you following me! I can seriously hurt you, and I will if I have too!” She snapped, her tone was harsh and cold. Dominique began to shake with anger, waiting to see who would emerge from the shadows.

Shaken by the possibility of her sister having found her on Moon Island, Cleo had quickly fled the boardwalk for the town center. It had to be a trick of the mind, some freaky shit going on with this darkness that hadn't passed yet despite it being well over the duration expected. She would see Cloe again, standing amongst the crowd that seemed to be enthralled by her before her whispers would turn inaudible even for Cleo's ears. And just like that, all eyes would turn to look at the vampire, ridiculing her with their gazes as if picking her apart like everyone in their circle used to do. She learned her lesson from the first incident at the beach, shutting her eyes tight before opening them to find her sister gone. “What the fuck.” the vampire mumbled, pushing her way past the crowd still whispering her name like venom.

It was silent passed the cemetery, and only then did she take a deep breath. The hunger now settled in the pit of her stomach, but she would abate it-- she didn’t trust herself to feed now, not without killing whoever it was she fed on, and So-Young’s only rule hung above her head as her mind raced at the possibility of Cloe ever actually finding her again.

There was a crack of a twig behind suddenly which brought Cleo’s head snapping to the intruder who now invaded her space with their presence. But unlike her earlier sightings up her sister, she could smell and hear her heartbeat. Eyes fell on the girl and Cleo could feel her chest tighten with anger, confusion. This wasn’t possible.

She got to her feet, hands balled into fists at the one girl who she could never beat, no matter how hard she tried. “How the fuck did you find me??”

The currents circled around Cassidy protectively, called upon by the defense mechanisms that tied to their powers. Roman’s voice taunted them still, the malice slipping in tones and inflections as the words he spat at them hammered against their ears.

I’m going to kill everyone you love, and then I’m going to kill you-- This Island deserves a better leader, one who isn’t weak and fragile, someone who isn’t afraid to spill blood. Dominic and Castalia didn’t teach you anything but how to hide behind your powers like a coward. Say goodbye while you still can Cassidy, because the twins are next. And then your coven. And anyone else on this Island who dares to go against me. This Island belongs to me now.

“STOP!”

Hurricane winds picked up around them as hands pressed hard over their ears. But nothing would help the words ingrained there, tormenting them in the voice of Roman. He appeared again, several feet from the whirlwind protectively spinning around Cassidy, very much like the day they had fought so long ago after Dominic’s decision-- except this time, it was Cassidy ready to fight.

“This isn’t real. You’re not real. Go. Away.”

They had expected the Solar Eclipse to pass without much event despite the silly stories that had been whispered to them growing up as a witch. Something about the way the Moon hung over Moon Island had always made it special in terms of supernatural effect.. But Cassidy wasn't thinking about that as they took a walk toward Hecate's Forest for some quiet time to think.

In the wake of the heated conversation with Leon, Cassidy had begun to feel the seeds of doubt sprouting and rooting into their subconscious. Did the coven really think they were weak? Did their own family think their choices in leading the coven were wrong? A side of them -the darkest strains of Valiente-Gardner blood- had cried for revenge the day Spencer had been killed in front of their eyes. But a side, the side of hope that bore their mother's voice held them back every time. What would Castalia do? It was the question Cassidy still asked themself everyday as if the woman were there to answer their questions.

The clearing where they often spent their time meditating was quiet, and already the Moon had began to pass through the Sun. Cass felt the air around them cool, missing the warmth of the rays as darkness inched closer and closer. The one difference between Moon Island and the rest of the areas that would be in total darkness? They had the moonlight.

And just like that, the atmosphere seemed to glow a beautiful iridescent. In awe, the witch reached for the light, as if they could somehow collect the beauty and keep it for themself. But when they drew back their hand, Cassidy noticed a figure approaching from the shadows- a haunting familiarity settled in their stomach as they squinted hard trying to make out the details of her face. "Who's there?" their voice was firm, the air around them swirling defensively.

"Is that anyway to greet your mother, Cassidy Edith?"

They shrank away, eyes wide at the voice that called their name. No one ever called them that. But it wasn't possible, it had to be some sort of manipulation, some sort of trick of the Moon. Had this been what the rumors spoke of? Hallucinations? Still as rationale spoke through to the witch, they stepped forward.

"Mom?" Cassidy's voice didn't feel like their own. It was the voice of a little girl, lost and desperate for her mother. But just as the woman appeared, she vanished.

The hunt

Paolo ran faster, the wound on his leg was burning, he kept trying to transform, trying to heal but nothing, this had never happened to him and that scared him even more. The laughs, the mockings hunt him, he could hear the shots so close, they were everywhere and it was like everywhere he ran o there were already 4 near enough to catch him. There were so many things his parents have to hide from here, he never knew if it was to protect him, to keep him out of reality, but the reality was there, hunters have finally found him and pack less wolf like he were an easy target.

As he tried to ditch the hunters and a massive root of a tree came on his wait and made him fall before he could stand up a blow to the head kept him down. He was supposed to be stronger but there was something making him weak, making him vulnerable. "Please, I haven't done anything, I'm legal!" a loud laugh came to the light "Tan gringo el cabron!" the man had a cream hat and his face painted as a calvera, he didn't knew who they were or how they had followed him, the man chuckled at his confused face "¿Qué te comio la lengua el gato, andresito?" Paolo just stood there, he could feel a cold drop trace down his spine, he didn't know who these people were but they obviously knew who he was, but he could lie about it, he didn't really have anything else left "I-I don't understand, I'm not!" The guy obviously didn't like being lied to and immediately took his pistol and hit him. "¿Qué crees que soy un pinche pendejo?" The man asked for something, Paolo started to regret lying to the man, a back with dripping blood was passed to him, only to reveal the head of his parents rolled out. Paolo's hard stopped for a few second, he was sure he died, that his soul left him, before coming screaming so loud that sounded like a howl.

The young Andrés was blind by rage, grief, and pain, he quickly felt his bones break and the wolf took over, the beast jump on the man quickly but before he could get near the hunter, the animal felt a shot of electricity knock him down to the ground, as the animal whine he felt a new person come in with a mask on him, Paolo was still somewhere inside of him, he didn't have control of it, but he was there, so the second when he saw a smiling Enzo looking down at him "You are such a pathetic beast, you didn't see it coming, didn't you?" He laughed "Well I couldn't expect anything from such an inferior animal", both Paolo and the wolf lied on the dirt hurt, he didn't have much to run for after that, he didn't have a family, a house or even a friend to get back to. Right when a cold poisoned machete came closer to their head, the wolf took the little energy he had on him to get them out of there, against his burning wood, against the few shot of electricity the wolf saved his life one more time. It didn't take long to Paolo turned to his human form due to his weak state, he stormed from the forest only to collapse in front of a car that was coming from the road, that abruptly stopped to his naked body which collapsed on the road.

BREAKING NEWS.

The Solar Eclipse has passed for the rest of the country, but Moon Island is still in darkness. It should be noted though that the intensity of the moonlight has illuminated the small town and encircled it in a beautiful and haunting glow.

This effect has proven breathtaking to watch, yet detrimental to the residents on the Island as reports have shown a spike in emergency room and hospital check-ins since Monday, August 21 -- the day of the eclipse. Patients are claiming they are seeing and hearing things and people- some deceased family members or others they may know. Could it be that this Solar Eclipse is drawing the craziness out of even the best of us?

At this time there is no evidence that being indoors will deter these rumored hallucinations from occurring. However, residents are still advised to stay indoors for their own safety because the potential dangers that lie out there could be much worse.

She told So-Young she would be fine alone. Truth was, she needed to feed. The kind of feeding that left vampires dizzy with euphoria. It was the only way to ease the irritation, the only way to feel the same high she once reached with alcohol and other drugs. The eclipse had come at her advantage, the darkness around Boston making it easy to prey on those with their guard down too busy looking up to look around.

Now she swelled with childish glee as she made her way back to Moon Island, skipping the need for a cab for an exhilirating "run" through the forest and mountain ridge.  It was close to the shores of the beach did, among the several people gazing at the peculiar glow of the water did Cleo see the breathtaking beauty of the moon and the town. There really was something special about this place, and despite her silent reluctance on staying here for long-- she had begun to think it wouldn't be so bad.

Her gaze followed to the people dispersed on the boardwalk, thankful she was no longer hungry. Ears perked at their conversations, some in awe while others just silent watching the waves intently. She heard everything, down to the multitude of heartbeats just several feet away as she found herself a spot along the railing.

A laughter caught her ear- a unique one she had heard all her life. Laughter that indicated condescension and jealousy. It was a soprano tone- C6 -shrill in Cleo's opinion. But everyone always fell in love with that laugh, and the person it belonged to. Hearing the sound froze the undead blood in her veins as she whipped her head to the source. Eyes widened when they settled on the image of herself, but prettier, taller, older-- better.

"Cloe."

Her voice was nothing more than whisper, a snarl of complete hatred under her breath- but as if the girl had some sort of keen super-hearing senses, she looked up. A sly smirk slowly appeared on her lips, smiling as if to say “I found you, sis”.

Cleo lunged at her, all senses and caution from being exposed gone from her mind. The onlookers scurried like ants as yelps of surprises back away from where she now stood-- alone.
