Hi Rover! I recently had to think of you bc I read a book you might also be interested in - Wo die Maschinen wachsen by Ilse C. Gebeshuber. It's about a bio materials researcher and her experience and views on working in Malaysia. It's not that deeply scientific but more about experiences and her world view - a lot of optimism and solarpunk despite the current ... state. :)

18 and 21 for the end of year asks?

18. a memorable meal this year - that’s difficult actually, I rarely go out to eat or eat with people. Hmmm…I’ll go for fluffy Japanese pancakes, even though that’s more of a desert than a meal. There’s a place in the city that does them, I tried them for the first time and they were really good 🙂 (my life goals for April 2025 were to see the cherry blossoms and go eat the pancakes 😅 achieved! 🌸 🥞)

21. something new about my residence now vs. beginning of the year - I don’t think anything has changed 😅 I’m in the same apartment I started the year in and didn’t redecorate or anything, so the most change was like, hanging up a poster or getting a new vase or something 😅
