I've had this blog for over 13 years now but haven't really been here a lot since about 2017.

this is a shitpost but I think it's not THAT wrong. Most kink is either one of (or a combination of):

You get to play at having power over someone else. This is your dominance sorts of things, your sadisms, etc.

You get to play safely. You can play with scary things while knowing there's safewords and a dom/top who loves you.

Feet. By which I mean, there's some normal part of the human experience that your brain has for some reason fixated on. Maybe you're into red hair, or glasses, or fluffy tails.

I know the philosophies of "people are inherently jerks and only modulate their behaviour to avoid negative consequences" and "people are inherently kind and only modulate their behaviour to seek out positive consequences" but is there a philosopher that postulated "people are inherently stupid and don't think about any consequences farther than two minutes away"? Because I feel like all discussions that try to balance the first two don't appreciate that this is at least a three-dimensional space.

I'm not sure when something starts counting as a philosophy (apparently pretty early) but at least the sentiment, "Don't assume something was done out of malice when stupidity explains it sufficiently," is one I've occasionally encountered. Still fails to account for people being kind but it's a start

This sounds like a shitpost but people should be allowed to be horny. As in, sexuality is just part of life for most people and there’s no reason for consensual sexual behavior to be punished. A celebrity getting “caught” at a sex club shouldn’t be a scandal. No one should be fired for having a fetlife profile outside of work. Nudes getting leaked shouldn’t be career-ending. Denying and hiding (consensual) sexual interests doesn’t make anyone more professional, it just makes everyone more repressed. And sterilizing ourselves to be better work drones isn’t productive, it’s just creepy. I’d rather my surgeon get absolutely railed on camera and come to work in a good mood, frankly.

every once in a while i get so tired of the way wearing a mask is so othering and i end up on the brink of just not wearing the damn thing to some specific event but i was at a céilí and a woman asked me why i was masking and i told her i have immune issues and also i'm recovering from pneumonia and she was like "oh that makes sense. ugh i've been so sick recently too, with covid. it was miserable!" and i was like "oh yeah it's awful. were you sick long?" and she goes "well I tested positive 5 days ago and I was really sick for 2 days, but yesterday I started feeling much better and this is my first time out."
