i love gretchen but all my relationship headcannons are gonna be ponnie (pilots is donnies age in this hc!!)

🐰donnie prefers winter and fall over spring and summer because the sun naturally makes his hair more brown rather than looking black

🐰he buys cheap black box dye from corner drug stores, doesn't really care what brand it is as long as it gets the job done

🐰kids at school tease donnie about being "emo" whenever warm seasons roll around and his hair is jet black again

🐰he's really bad at cleaning up the excess dye, so he'll have black smudges on the back of his neck and temples for a few days before it finally scrubs off

🐰donnie's also very bad at being thorough with the hair dye, so when he first started dying his hair black he always missed chunks on the back of his head

🐰when the sun really came out the back of his hair would be splotches of black and brown

🐰donnie also cuts his own hair, which has led to more than one disaster and embarrassing school picture

🐰elizabeth has offered to drive (and pay) for donnie to go get haircuts but he refuses. he doesn't like strangers touching him

🐰donnie doesn't like the smell of traditional mens shampoo and conditioner (he also thinks 3-in-1s are bs) so he used elizabeth's instead

💙🐰💚one time after donnie cut his hair really choppy, pilot said he liked how scruffy it looked, so donnie took a picture of it on his camera so every time he cut his hair he could do it like that again (he'd never admit to it though)

💙🐰💚donnie stopped using it for a while though once he started going with pilot (what if pilot thought that was weird?) and switched to scentless baby shampoo instead until pilot mentioned liking cinnamon smells...donnie religiously uses cinnamon shampoo and conditioner now
