Sentence Prompts Number 10 for Zutara please 💜
Hello there! Thanks so much for the prompt!
10. “Are you from Tennessee, because you’re the only ten-I-see.”
Katara sipped her rum & coke, surveying the party. She had agreed to make an appearance at Sokka's end of the year bash, but she was wiped from finals and all she wanted to do was curl up in bed and sleep for days.
But Sokka had pleaded and Suki had done her makeup, so here she was, counting down the minutes till she could leave and not hear about it from her brother.
She let out another heavy sigh, turning to refill her drink when a large body stepped in front of her.
“Are you from Tennessee?" Jet drawled, "Because you’re the only ten-I-see.”
Katara rolled her eyes and brushed past him, but to her disappointment he followed her into the kitchen.
"You honestly can't believe that line was going to work," Katara said, grabbing more ice from the freezer.
"Aww c'mon baby, you didn't think it was cute?"
"No," Katara deadpanned. "And quit calling me baby, we broke up ages ago."
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean we couldn't get back together," he said, wagging his eyes. Katara snorted and finished prepping her drink.
"Find someone else to try your lame-ass lines on," Katara said. She rushed into the throng of the party, making her slip onto the back porch before Jet could follow. She settled on the swing, kicking her shoes off and enjoying the cool night breeze.
Katara's head swiveled to the door when she heard it open again, but smiled when she saw who it was. Zuko settled on the swing beside her, throwing his arm around her shoulders.
"Are you from Tennessee? Because you’re the only ten-I-see," he whispered in her ear.
Katara rolled her eyes but giggled. "Just because you're the one saying it doesn't make it any less of a terrible line," she pointed out.
"I know, I heard it as I was saying it. It's so bad."
"So bad," she agreed, and then kissed him. She felt him smile against her lips, but pulled back when it shifted to a frown. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Just- Jet might back off if he knew you were taken," Zuko said.
"I know." Katara traced his jawline. "Honestly, now that finals are over I don't think there's a good reason to keep this secret anymore."
"Really?" His voice was so full of excitement, of hope, it made Katara's teeth hurt.
"Really." She kissed him again. "Why don't you take me home tonight?"
Zuko pulled her closer as he deepened the kiss. When he pulled back, they were both panting.
"I'd love to."
