Season 11 angst, ANY pairing you want!!!

This is great for the mood I’m in, so...

Cole’s eyes were burning. They seemed to be burning a lot lately. Maybe he was just...too warm. Too used to Zane’s chill. He drew in a shaky breath as another wave washed over him.

Even just thinking of his name ached. It squeezed his heart in his chest and burned his throat. He choked out a sob and rolled over in his bed, clutching a pillow - his pillow, because they’d been cuddling together before that fight -

He didn’t think that he had any more tears to cry, but there they were, soaking into the pillowcase.

It just wasn’t fair.

First it was just a general uptick in protective actions. Jumping in front of Jay before he could get bitten by another serpentine. Pulling Kai out of the way of a sword. Catching Cole before he could tumble off of a cliffside.

Then he went too far. And in a blinding flash of refracting light and snow, Zane was gone before Cole had ever admitted the growing feelings he felt.

And by some miracle, Cole got a second chance. He was shinier, brighter, and every bit as sweet and caring as he remembered. He couldn’t help but spill it all out, every word he’d ever wished he’d said and more.

And it was perfect.

Even when he was cursed and intangible.

Even when Zane’s circuits were fried and he was struggling to make it through a battle.

Even when Zane was hurt. And unresponsive.

At least then they were okay. They were together.

Hell, even when he fell, and Zane thought he’d died, he had been able to find his way home.

But now...now.

Now all he had was a pillow, in a room that was way too warm, soaked with tears.
