7) What annoys them the most about their partner? Would they change it if they could?

(Shiro keeps disappearing, yes Keith would change this…..)

lol, but yeah, there are things that annoy them, like both of their tendencies towards throwing themselves into harm’s way for the mission (and each other); Shiro’s tendency to just be like “everything’s fine” while the house is on fire with his personal issues; Keith’s tendency to wear blinders when he’s trying to accomplish a goal, often to the detriment of himself or the team… (he usually figures it out and apologizes, though, but that doesn’t make it not annoying when it happens)

I… don’t really think Keith or Shiro would want to just snap their fingers and change the other? They both just want what’s best for the other and want the other to be the best they can be and the happiest they can be. They make each other better people, make each other want to change and be a better person, and they do eventually address issues with each other and talk to each other about their concerns, so it’s not like these things go unaddressed… It’s just more of a natural process than just wanting to snap their fingers and see instant change, because it’s not like any of these things (sans Shiro’s disappearing….) is something that they completely hate or stops them from loving each other unconditionally.

8)What do the like best about their partner?

…Shiro’s body…. (wait, no, that’s me) 

I think if push came to shove, Keith would say the thing he loves most about Shiro is his tenacity. The Man Just Won’t Quit. At first, Keith thought it was annoying because the thing Shiro wouldn’t stop doing was trying to get to know Keith and Keith isn’t one to quickly open up to strangers. Once they weren’t strangers, though, Keith really started to admire and love that part of Shiro, the “you can knock me down, but I will always get back up again” attitude Shiro has… Not only is it something that Keith just admires and wants to emulate himself, but it’s also a part of Shiro that has helped him stay alive, and Keith will always love the things that allow Shiro to stay in his life.

There is so much Shiro loves about Keith… but again, if push came to shove? Shiro would probably say unconditional loyalty and love. Shiro… he has a hard time seeing the good in himself, especially after his captivity. But Keith, he’s just such a solid presence and a person that Shiro knows, without a shadow of a doubt, that he can trust because Keith does not waver in his loyalty or love. Keith’s unconditional love and loyalty are truly unconditional, and that is something Shiro loves about Keith more than anything because it is something that Shiro desperately needs.

14)Anything they both dread?

laundry….. Shiro hates having to sort through all his dirty clothes (because yes, Shiro, you do need to separate the lights from the darks….not all of us only where black and grey…..) and Keith hates folding the clean laundry and putting it away (he’s really bad at folding, and Shiro eventually bans him because his shirts always end up wrinkled if Keith does it….)

31)Do they finish each other’s sentences? Pick up any phrases or habits from each other? Know when the other is hiding something?

I actually hc that, the older Shiro and Keith get, the more they become That Couple™ who, like, always know what the other is thinking and never have to finish a thought because they just Know

and those last two? are literally? canon?? “patience yields focus~~” and all the private moments where they’re just like “are you okay?” “what’s wrong” “i’m here for you”…… it’s all canon and i am #blessed

33)What kind of presents do they get each other? Do they only do it on special occasions?

hmmmm I don’t see either of them as being really big about gift giving and “special occasions”. they aren’t a “big gestures” couple, they’re the couple that just consistently shows their love and devotion through words and actions rather than gifts

however…. Shiro is definitely the type to see something that reminds him of Keith or that he thinks Keith will really like and he’ll just buy it and be like “I saw this and thought of you”. Keith is the type to pay close attention to the things Shiro talks about wanting or needing or something, and then he’ll just? Get it for him? Shiro can literally just say “oh man, I really need to buy some more socks, these are getting holes…” and Keith will show up the next day with a 6-pack of Shiro’s favorite socks.

42)Do they let each other get away with things that would normally bother them?

oh yeah, they are both toootally guilty of letting things slide between the two of them that they hold against other people…. though it’s probably more little things than anything big, except for maybe doing really risky missions, but that’s more because they trust each other’s skills and judgment than just letting them get away with things

911 Lone Star Rewatch: 1x04

I'm so behind. But I have not forgotten!

Alright let me try to make sense of my thoughts.

Tornado episode! So was this episode meant to serve as the mid-season finale? Were they trying to match it up with a OG 911 finale episode?

Gotta say, as someone who grew up in tornado alley I have literally never reacted to a tornado siren with that much urgency and panic unless I can see the tornado. Normally, you like look out the window first.... begrudgingly get up and go to the basement... turn on the weather channel to see updates.

You know what, Owen being in the towers on 9/11 is such a good backstory for Owen. And it does feel like that arc of him dealing with that trauma culminated in the season 3 finale and now we've moved on to his stuff with his dad and now his brother. But I really do appreciate all the 9/11 stuff with him.

This show deals with religion a fair amount--but its a lot of different religions. Like obviously, Judd Grace Tommy, etc. are Christian. But then there's also Marjan's deep connections to Islam. And TK's ties aren't to Judaism are not quite as strong, but certainly still there. It's just interesting that all three of the major Abrahamic religions are represented in storylines in this show. I feel like typically it's only one (and usually just Christianity).

Oh wow, Michelle! Haven't watched the show in five days and I already forgot that she is in the first season.

And Michelle's mother.... listen. No offense to this actress..... but.... I don't think she's good (lol). I just don't believe anything she says. Like the emotion is missing. And it does not help with my investment in the Iris storyline.

I deeply feel for Paul making food that has to adhere to several different food restrictions. Not to sound like a boomer, but millennials and gen z are so difficult to cook for!!

Seeing probie Matteo makes me want them to get another probie. It's just such a funny dynamic. Like I get that there's already so many people in the cast so it probably wouldn't work, but a girl can dream.

I love that almost every call starts with them like assuring the person "we're gonna get you out :)" and then they immediately turn to each other like, "how the hell are we getting them out of there..."

Man, I haven't been appreciating firefighter TK as much as I should be! Look at him in his turnout gear! Though, admittedly. He really shines so much more as a paramedic. Even in this first season and early season 2 his best moments are more paramedic adjacent.

And so concludes our state mandated break that we all spent standing and talking about work.

Ahh the first instance of the dysfunctional couple! Locked in the gun safe.

Something about Owen saying "I would have done the same thing" when the guy is freaking out about his kids still being in the collapsed house. Just makes me think about Owen finding TK unresponsive in his apartment and all the distress in his voice. Ughhhhhh. He really does love his boy so much. (Judd also refers to him as 'your boy' this episode)

Which of course he takes TK's helmet from him so he can go into the house instead of him because of how high the risk of secondary collapse is.

TK running to hug his dad!! While the kids are hugging their dad!! And that dad is hiding medical issues as well!!

Matteo and Owen's chat after that call is so great. No toxic masculinity nonsense here! Look at those future roomies bonding.

(The coloring seems wayyy less blue than I remember it being... did they fix it or am I just going crazy??)

TK already looks so upset when he's leaving Owen's office. Cuz he's already found the pill bottle and knows something is up.

They make Michelle's mother calling seem so dramatic when Michelle is on the phone and then she arrives and the mom is all 'oh yeah look at the shed'. She just... sounds so unenthused.

Grace having to tell Judd not to say Jackass at church is so funny.

Owen is just so gentle with TK and it makes me emotional.

Another episode done (albeit late) 10/10! Next up is the semi-controversial Studs. Which I have already watched, I just need to type up my thoughts.

“Why I’d think it would be really fun?” Yennefer had a slightly mischievous side to herself. “But also just a good idea. Body doubles for you and Leia. It’s a million dollar idea.” She was mostly kidding but coming from a place where she had watched her king send an assassin to kill his wife and even though Yennefer kept evading him with her magic she ended up losing. So she would do anything she could to protect Mercutio and Leia. It was her job but it was still one she would do with all her heart.
