I think doing April 12th could be pretty fun
April 12th: Historical First Kiss
hmmm i’m feelin’ historical fantasy.... knights and magic kinda thing
Shiro is a sword-for-hire. He was once a knight, but his country was torn apart by war and gobbled up by the victors. So, now he sells his skills to survive. While in the country Daibazaal, he finds out that the King has offered a massive bounty for whoever can slay the dragon that had attacked their country. Apparently, many have tried and all have died in the process. After seeing the destruction the dragon had wrought, Shiro can’t stand by and do nothing.
He tracks the dragon down to a small island just off the coast, but what he discovers is surprising. While observing the dragon, the sun started to rise and Shiro watched as the dragon turned into a man. It turned out that the king’s missing son Lotor--who many thought was dead--had actually been cursed into becoming a dragon every night. Unable to control the shift and often losing all sense of himself while a dragon, Lotor ended up destroying an entire village, killing many of the villagers. Horrified, he self-exiled himself, hoping that if he hid away, then he wouldn’t hurt anyone else. However, every time he transformed he would lose himself, and when the dragon went hunting and was attacked by humans, he would end up hurting and killing more people.
Shiro knows instantly that he can’t kill Lotor, so instead he tries to help him. Eventually, Shiro is able to get Lotor’s dragon side to trust him and he’s even able to help Lotor gain some control over his dragon form. They, of course, fall in love in the process.
Excerpt: They landed as the sky began to lighten. Rock’s skittered across the ground as Lotor shifted and bent to allow Shiro to dismount.
Shiro was breathless from the exhilaration of flying, throat a little sore from all the excited yelling he’d done. He moved to stand in front of Lotor, who lowered his head to be level with Shiro.
“Thank you,” Shiro said, looking into the dragon’s large, golden eyes. “That was amazing.”
Lotor made a rumbling sound and moved closer to Shiro. Shiro reached out and laid his hand against the side of Lotor’s head. Shiro’s heart was still racing, but it wasn’t entirely from the flight anymore.
Lotor turned slightly to look at the horizon, just as the first rays of the sun appeared. Slowly, Lotor started to shift and transform, and Shiro watched in wonder as dragon became man.
Lotor stumbled when the transformation finished, but Shiro was there to catch him before he fell.
“You’re amazing,” Shiro whispered, almost to himself.
Lotor’s eyes widened before softening. He reached one hand up, brushing his fingertips down Shiro’s cheek to his chin, not quite touching his lips.
“And you are extraordinary.”
Shiro’s breath hitched as he and Lotor stared into each other’s eyes, faces moving closer as though drawn in by an invisible force.
When their lips were but a hair’s breadth away from each other, they stopped.
“Is this truly what you want?” Lotor asked with quiet sort of anguish.
“Yes,” Shiro breathed out before pushing forward and finally, finally, bridging the space between them.
Of their own accord, Shiro’s hands wrapped around Lotor, one grabbing his waist and the other smoothing up his bare back. Lotor’s hands cupped Shiro’s head, keeping his face tilted up slightly so he could kiss him deeply.
When they finally broke apart, Lotor pressed his forehead against Shiro’s as they both tried to slow their breathing. When they finally pulled apart far enough to look at each other, Lotor was smiling mischievously.
“Would you like to know a secret?”
Shiro couldn’t help but return his smile. “What?”
Lotor leaned forward until his lips were brushing against Shiro’s ear.
“That was my first kiss,” he whispered.
Shiro jerked back to get a look at Lotor’s face.
“Really?”
Lotor nodded, still smiling.
“Would you like to be my second, as well?” he asked.
Instead of answering, Shiro pulled Lotor forward into another kiss.
And another. And another. And another.
