Fireball
there's a question about why any self respecting caster would ever cast something like fireball, fire blast, ignis ardere, what have you, because like, that's just inefficient
why would you cook your enemies when you could focus very tiny lazer blasts to eliminate specific things which you want to. like, there's just not much of a reason to cast a big flaming blast of explosive energy as opposed to a little lazer of concentrated flaming power
I mean, with the energy used to ignite air into a fireball, you could probably get your blast hot enough to instantly destroy someone's brain anyways, and they kind of can't live beyond that - also probably heavy enough to ignore pesky immunities, that dragon's scales will have an upper limit
oh, also, melting their flesh will give them about 10s to kill you if they can ignore pain
but like, these powerful wizards do use fireball, and it's kind of insane, are they just trying to be flashy? are they trying to impress? is a concentrated beam not impressive to the mindless crowd of fighters, paladins, and knights? I'm not sure you should be prioritising them, friend, we in the know will be much more impressed with pure beams of death
blast on you crazy diamond
