Sooooo basically twitter used to be my rant safe-haven buuuuuut then people found it and yea. Sometimes you just need a new outlet? i guess..
Anywhooo... Last year i fell in love with WoSo. I stumbled upon the Women’s World Cup final as it was starting. I have always loved watching USA’s teams competing on the global stage, i.e. Olympics, but i never really gave soccer/football a chance.
(I mean technically i can kinda remember catching the last few mins of that Olympic quarterfinal loss, but we don’t need to talk about that...)
But this game, the celebrations, the bad-assery lit a FIRE in my soul! Holy shit this game is F.U.N. I love me some badass iconic women, and who’s better than the USWNT. Fighting the good fight, picking up trophies, demanding to be heard.. Yes bitch.
After that game, i needed more and more i got. I haven’t missed any NWSL or USWNT games (that weren’t on while i was working) since the WC. With the NWSL i’ve just kinda been rooting for everyone (well except NCC, we dont fuck with homophobes lol) and enjoying it. I need to declared my loyalty this season, but it’s hardt.
Also, are NWSL off-seasons always this nuts?! Like i should be happy Sonnett is in Orlando now, bc i live in Georgia and if i ever get to make it to a game it’d be there...but whew that was a dumpster fire last year. idk we’ll see.
Anyways, if you made it this far into the post this was just me telling you a bit about why i’m here and what these damn women and this damn game means to mean now. (I’ve bought two breakingt tees and two crest line shirts, who am i and who’s money am i spending?!!). But it’s great to be a fan and apart of this community. I may not know everything, but i know the rules of the game, a bit of the USWNT history, and enough to school trolls on twitter so there’s that.
its also FUCK USSF and Carlos Cordeiro (who literally just stepped down as i typed that sentence lol) til i die.
