DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince’s fourth studio album, Homebase, was released on July 23, 1991. It achieved significant success, reaching number 12 on the Billboard 200 charts and number 5 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Critically, the album received positive reviews. It was certified Platinum and also won an American Music Award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album in 1992.

“Summertime,” the second track and lead single from the album, garnered DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince their second Grammy Award for Best Single in early 1992. Will Smith revealed that he purposely altered his voice to sound deeper than usual for this particular album.

Breaking Atoms is the first album by Main Source. It was released on July 23, 1991, under Wild Pitch Records. The album was primarily produced by Large Professor with co-production by Pete Rock. Recording sessions took place in various studios in New York City from 1990 to 1991. Breaking Atoms stands out for its unique blend of jazz and soul music samples, which was a distinctive feature during the golden age of hip hop.

Breaking Atoms is widely recognized as an influential album and is highly regarded by writers and music critics. It is notable for introducing rapper Nas, who made his debut appearance on the track “Live at the Barbeque”. His contribution to the song was later sampled on the intro track of his acclaimed debut album, Illmatic. After Wild Pitch Records ceased operations in 1997, Breaking Atoms went out of print in the United States. However, it was reissued on April 22, 2008, through Fontana Distribution.
