The dragon sighed, hearing someone come up behind her. “If you’re trying to scare me, I’d suggest not doing it while I’m on the job, actively working to be vigilant.” She almost didn’t bother to turn around and see who it was, but she had a low tolerance for mystery. Turning, her hand rested on her hips, her eyebrows raised. “Since this wasn’t a great plan to scare me, I’m assuming you needed something?”
Geneieve rubbed at her temples, sighing for a moment before leaning back in her chair, noticing that she had found some company. A tired smile pressed on her lips. “Sorry. It feels like every time I try to even lightly look at the future, it’s immediately trying to drag me down. Can’t imagine why,” she drawled sarcastically, reaching for her glass of wine. “Is there something I could help you with or was this a social interruption?”
“I must admit...this thing called spaghetti is pretty good. It’s my favorite thing so far that the humans eat.” Damien hums out, fingers going to play with the small bottle of water he had. “Though...if you have any other recommendations...I’d gladly listen to them.”
It was odd, now, for Genevieve to have the pull of Adariva on her. It was different from the pull of a vision starting, and it was oddly comforting, in a way, to be aware of the other. But the new sensation was leaving her distracted, evidenced by how she ran into the person in front of her. “Sorry. It seems letting my mind wander at the same time as my feet is a dangerous practice.”
Zalli’s finger traced around the edge of her glass, looking up with a practiced soft smile when someone came to settle into the seat next to her. She knocked back the rest of her drink, looking over at them. “So, are you grabbing the next round or am I?” She teased, ready to drop the nice act depending on how they responded.
The celebration was at least a raucous distraction from the foreboding words foretold by the Grand Seer. Some were definitely able to dismiss them easily, but they were weighing on Genieve, which left her skirting the edges of the party, nursing her glass of wine as she observed everyone else. Still, she pushed a smile onto her lips as someone came to stand beside her. “I do hope you’re enjoying yourself more than I am.”
