truth be told , he was not. in fact , he was here at the behest of another , a client who held more gil and promise of future employment. but … if this warrior of light could , perhaps , entice him further , dante would be more obliged to abandon one duty for the next. ‘ gimme somethin' with a little more pizzazz and i’ll happily leave you be. ‘ for now , at least , he was beholden to the bounty in his possession , for a friend of a friend of a mutual client ... or something like that.

he vastly preferred to not get involved , such is the reason he gave another information moments prior on his current bounty , if only to avoid an encounter with the warrior of light. ' got a bounty for your friend. give him up , half the money's yours. ' he says with a shrug , halfhearted , ' ... or , of course , you could trade me information to really ' wow ' me and i'd be on my way. '

a soft exhale escapes him as fingers brush stray strands of hair from the other’s face , tucking disheveled locks just far enough aside to properly behold their features. and there it is : the mark marring skin , still fresh with blood.

mouth draws almost instantly into a faint frown , displeasure settling unto his features as thumb hovers near the injury without touching it. something twists unpleasantly within his chest. ❝ had i arrived sooner ... ❞

a dim light gathers slowly at his fingertips then. gentle in appearance , though touched unmistakably by darkness. blackened radiance coils softly between his hands , unnatural and beautiful at the same time. he raises his hand , thereafter , toward the wounded flesh , mending what injuries the other obtained from battles prior.  ❝  i do not particularly enjoy seeing you injured , vahn.  ❞ / @soulvor !

emet-selch's golden gaze tilts towards the warrior of darkness, long arms resting next to his slouched sides. he'd been caught watching hydaelyn's champion from afar, not that he'd made all that much effort to remain hidden. his every action had purpose, after all, he was always exactly where he wanted to be. but whether vahn'ik could see through him or not was another matter entirely.

❝ have I become so predictable in our time together? ❞ his eyes flicker over vahn'ik for a moment, assessing, before he looks towards the distance. ❝ still fighting the good fight, I see. it seems you never hesitate to do another's work for them. I fear behaviour like that is not going to make them any less helpless. ❞
