A trope i can never get enough of is the love interest of a harsh exterior character calling them cute and bamboozling the fuck out of them. It hits when the character has never imagined the word 'cute' could apply to someone like them. It hits when the love interest sees their cutie in a way no one else does and that makes their LI cute to them and only them. It hits especially good when the cutie in question struggles with toxic masculinity, but allows themself to appreciate the compliment bc it's coming from someone they love.

None of my faves are safe. They are all adorable and I will force the people they care about to tell them that they're adorable 😍

🫂What’s their favorite way to hold each other when words aren’t enough?

I have a particular scene in mind for this that always clenches my heart. I hc Kohaku has claustrophobia after being raised in a cell as a kid. He would prefer to keep his trauma secret, but he has an episode around Souma at work that culminates in a panic attack. He doesn't want Souma to think he's weak. To him Souma is so cool and strong. He wants Souma to see him the same way.

So he finally admits what happened to him growing up. That his family locked him in a cell, and that's why he has claustrophobia.

K: "I don't want you to look at me different cause of this. I don't want you to think I'm weak-"

S: "You are one of the strongest people I've ever met."

Kohaku accepts that. But Souma knows there are no words that can cure a lifetime of neglect. He asks if he can take care of him. Kohaku agrees.

They're in the ES!! office locker room. Souma strips them both down and brings them into one of the showers. Then he just sits on the floor, and holds Kohaku between his legs while the shower pelts them both.

That image of them soaked and small, Kohaku safe surrounded by Souma's limbs, and all their truth finally laid bare allowing them to be closer than ever is stuck deep in me. Mmm. Hurts real good.

😳What’s the most embarrassing thing they’ve walked in on the other doing?

I like to think Souma is pretty much immune to embarrassment. Kohaku is very much not on the other hand, though I like to think as he comes to like Souma more, he adopts that self assuredness to not worry as much about what others think of him.

🌸 That being said, Kohaku practices pick up lines in the mirror. I think he wants to be a smooth talker, though he has little practical experience. (lucky for him, Souma is easily flustered as long as he picks up on the flirtation. With him Kohaku can pull it off). Rinne and Himeru are both fan service experts, and looking up to them only fuels Kohaku's interest in flirting.

Which brings the Lil pink 🐝 to stand in front of a bathroom mirror. He studies his own reflection, then dramatically tosses his bangs, and attempts an aloof Himeru inspired line. He scrutinizes his adorably grumpy appearance some more, unsure if he pulled it off. Then he pops a smirk with a finger gun, and tries a far more brash Rinne style line.

Then Kohaku notices another face in the mirror — and whips around to find Souma holding a pair of scribbled scorecards denoting a '9/10' and '2/10' respectively. Kohaku expires on the spot.

🪻 Kohaku goes to fetch Souma from the dojo on a miscellaneous day, and happens upon him in the middle of a dramatic roleplay... with a training dummy. Souma has his katana extended, and is shouting at his 'enemy' "You'll rue the day you dared to oppose me, evil doer!"

Kohaku suppresses a giggle and prompts, "Are ya winnin, silly?"

Souma whips around, then gives him a chipper wave, "Hello, my heart. Of course I'm winning? The dummy is an inanimate object."

Kohaku giggles again, and reminds him it's time for lunch. Souma sheathes his sword, and hurries to his side.

🩹How do they comfort each other after nightmares?

Poorly, lol.

🌧 Who steals whose hoodies when it rains?

Urhgn. I feel like it's honestly a race between which one of them offers the other their coat first? Souma is more comfortable being wet, but Kohaku is generally warmer. Mostly I think they'd both be so excited to be proper gentlemen, they'd end up both stubbornly jacketless and soaked. Walking down the sidewalk with matching stern faced resolve to not be the lesser gentleman 😭😭😭

Kanata walks by giggling and splashing in rain water puddles. Himeru scowls at them from the dry safety of a nearby overhang like they're both imbeciles. Keito sighs, and brings them an umbrella to share.
