TITUS S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 2
But you should talk in a way that is consistent with sound teaching.
Tell the older men to be sober, dignified, sensible, and healthy in respect to their faith, love, and patience.
~ Titus 2:1,2
This whole chapter is a solid list of "Applications" for how I should talk and act - especially now that I'm among the "older men..."
Sound teaching requires discernment - wisdom - understanding -
My words - in all things - need to reflect what I've learned - and lived - under and through and in His grace and merciful forgiveness...
Likewise my actions will be "sober, dignified, sensible, and healthy in respect to my faith, love, and patience" if and when I lean into those sound teachings that I've learned and followed and applied...
Talk in a way that is consistent with sound teaching.
Be sober, dignified, sensible, healthy
Encourage others to be sensible
Offer myself as a role model
Show integrity, seriousness, and a sound message
Make the teaching about God and Jesus attractive in every way
Verse 12: Live, sensibly, ethically, godly/reject ungodly desires
Verse 15: Encourage and correct
Gracious forgiving Father God - I confess to sometimes going off the deep end, reacting selfishly in word and action without pausing first to consider the soundness of what I'm saying and doing as opposed to what I've been taught and what I know and then recall in shame and regret. I thank You for Your Holy Spirit Who is at work in and around me to reign in my will for Yours, to pause and consider Your glory in everything I do so that others might also come to know and receive Your mercy offered through Your Son Jesus - In His Name, and for Your worshipful praise in all things, Father - all things...
Waiting with you for the blessed hope and the glorious appearance of our great God and savior Jesus Christ.
