Sound team edition 🎵🎤
TEAM DOSU
"On each episode, we were taken to a different period in time," says Wade Barnett, supervising sound editor of the series about time travel. "We had to pull new sounds for the cars, guns, planes and backgrounds that would match the time period of the episode. The other main focus was building the sound design of the time machines. It's very subjective as to what an actual time machine would sound like, and we had a lot of fun experimenting with different ideas and dialing in those elements. We had a constantly evolving sound design template for each of the two time machines in the show."
1/14/24.
I was record shopping the other day and ran across this 2 LP from Austin, Texas legend Bill Baird. I've heard of Baird and listened to a few of releases, but I guess I'd never really appreciated his genius until listening to "Spring Break of the Soul" (2013, Pau Wau Records). If you like 2 LP releases that really explore the space, then this release is for you. Sounds range from Maston to Bobby Brown to Floating Action.
I didn't know that Baird initially was part of Sound Team. I think I owned "Movie Monster" at one point, but don't seem to anymore. You can actually hear Sound Team in his solo work. It's just his solo work is a lot more experimental.
Baird's most recent solo release was in 2022. He's also a member of Heavy Meddo and has a cool summative webpage that really reminds me of early 1990s webpages.
nostalgic and revisiting this today
just say yes
Jam session at the DFL! Our sound team wanted to get that extra special sound you can only get with real instruments, and scheduled a recording with our in-house musicians. This is a small sneak peak of Lamiya Kazi and Bryce Villanueva playing their violins for a special string section on a new track!
